Thanks guys.

We received the hardcopy in mail today, but when I entered the MSC # on USCIS case status, it says we mailed it out on 27 Sept so I suppose that's the day it was approved. Also, we didn't receive any e-mail, and our case-status was not shown on the website until today (after it was approved). I think I checked last week and it said case not found.

hey,,,,sirius,,,,many congratulation !!! tht very good news !!! ....now can u give some more information....my NOA 1 is 28/2/2013 ,,,USCIS told my wife tht my file is stiil at NBC ( they havent transfered my file to New york field office ) u said tht u involved congressman,,,,,can u tell us how did congressman helped u in ur case,,,my wife is also frm New york...

and i m having same problem with my case,,,,when i look online case status check,,,it says ur case can not be found,,,

bigboss19: Thanks. I can not say with conviction if my congressman helped or not. My wife initially filed a service request and then contacted her local congressman. She filled out the forms & sent them to the congressman in August, nothing happened for a month & then another employee from the congressmans office e-mailed on 25 Sept saying that he has now taken over our case from the last guy and he needs our MSC #, my wife sent it to him and 3 days later our case was approved. Did the congressman or the employee pull any strings considering our file was in the local NYC office? I dont know. It could be that it helped involving the congressman from the same city, our quite simply that our turn came and our case was approved after the service request. The tier-2 agents did always say 5-8 months and ours was approved exactly 2 days before 8 months so it could just be normal processing.

I encourage you to read this thread, especially the posts from "The Mean Lady" and do exactly as she says.

Have you called them more than once to confirm whether its actually in NYC or not? We were told in June that our case transferred to NYC in March. Then we called against in August and were told our case transferred to NYC in June. So obviously we don't know if they sometimes just concoct a date to get you off their back or what. But what I can confirm is that the receipt number for the service request we filed did have "NYC" at the end of the numbers - That convinced us that it must be in NYC field office.

Hi,

You can do a service request with a tier 2 officer (as long as your case is past the average processing time frame), but honestly I have done two service request and both of them just resulted in me getting letters back from USCIS that is obviously a standard computer generated response (both basically outlined the process for the forms filed, that my case had been received, and it was a more politically correct way to say "shut up and wait we are extremely backed up"). As for as the location of your file, I really don't think the reps we talk to truly have ill intentions but are caught between a rock and hard place about how much info they are really allowed to spill to us. I know with a high deal of "personal" certainty that the reps can see the file location, the time it was logged at the location, and if it was transferred to a local office or not. I think there customer service model and procedures for addressing our question/overall interactions with us just suck; but if your are extremely persistent you can usually get them to place you on hold and get the answer to those 3 questions. I personally got a little more piece of mind when I went on my infopass appointment and talk to someone face to face. That rep I talk to basically confirmed what two previous tier 2 reps told me over the phone (while the other 10-12+ I talked to all told me a different story). The rep at the info pass appointment was nice enough to break everything down for me and explained the reasons why I would receive several different answers from the reps on the phone. If you are like me, I would suggest requesting the infopass, it may or may not make you feel better but it could give you a little more insight as to where your papers really are.

That's not an accurate prediction of anyone's case. It's an estimate based off of VisaJourney members from the same month...it has nothing to do with the USCIS processing your file, just a way to give you something compared to what people have posed on their timelines....sorry to bear bad news...it could be good, but I wouldn't weigh too much on what the estimate says.

lol... IT IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY !!!

Consider that not everyone comes back to fill in their timelines. It is only as accurate as the information entered by the VJ users. It is not in any way tied to the USCIS statistics

Trust me, I know that it is for entertainment only and we are not basing any of our plans off the estimates. However, it does add small level of hope to this seemingly never ending wait. no0pb.gif

It just makes me feel better honestly and I would give a lot more credit to this estimate than the information I get from a Tier II rep rofl.gif

Timeline

That's not an accurate prediction of anyone's case. It's an estimate based off of VisaJourney members from the same month...it has nothing to do with the USCIS processing your file, just a way to give you something compared to what people have posed on their timelines....sorry to bear bad news...it could be good, but I wouldn't weigh too much on what the estimate says.

Exactly.

I'm the beneficiary.

Don't have a timeline? Don't know how to get started with it? Do it for the statistics sake: VJ video guide

Filing for a USC spouse visa (IR-1/CR-1) and not sure what comes next? Check out the VJ IR-1/CR-1 guide

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.
