I have filed I-130 for my husband on feb 26 at chicago lockbox, recieved case number on march 4th with priority date of 28 feb. It starts with MSC which means it was sent to NBC. Its been six months still no approval letter, I have called so many times they say that there is a backlog at NBC. Don't know how long its going to take for the NOA2 to come.. any ideas of what should I do?

Yes keep ringing them - that's what my husband did, Ours was MSC too, took 6 full months to be approved. Then it took 6 weeks to get to NVC !!! it has been with NVC now for 3 months and we are still waiting approval. !!!

Ours was filed 4th january 2013.

I don't understand how people get more information . from day one i am getting same info. "nothing!" it's pending. no dates or updates of anything. just wait patiently.

I am frustrated first they told everyone it takes 6 months please wait that much atleast. now everyone passed the 6th month period and they telling ppl somethign else.

I called again today hoping maybe i will get some good information too. the only thing that was a common answer "it's taking 6 - 8 months to approove at NBC". and they also told me they are not transfereing to local offices, don't know how much of that is true.

They told me it take NBC 13 months to approve the I-130.. and this is only the 6th month for me, and they also told me that all I 130's automatically go to NBC and they cannot be transfered until the case is approved.

Can you fill out your timeline? It is useful for predicted dates and for others to compare to.

Hopefully they will hurry up with your application. Looks like the NVC is taking longer than the I-130s used to take to process.

My NOA1 is just over the 6 months threshold now.

kmg617 got his NOA2 seven months after NOA1, so yeah maybe I-130 are now taking a bit longer.

I filed in early Feb (mvc number), and I'm still waiting. Today I called USCIS, and got generic information from a phone rep (tier 1). that they are processing January 2013 applications (not sure what is the source because there's a different time on the website) and that I should give it a month or so more. I'm not sure if this information timeline is applicable, because the last time I called I was told that the file was at a field office.

If the file is indeed at the field office, does the national processing time still apply? I can see from the stats given at USCIS website that the backlog at most of these field offices is immense (1 to 3 ratio), and there's no way most of these files can be completed earlier than 18 months - 30 months.

Well, there can be an average for all the offices, of course. But each office would be processing a different date, depending on workload in this particular area, i suppose. So there's no way to know for sure from the average when your petition would be processed, i think. I mostly look at office stats, to see how much they processed in the months since our petition.

I'm the beneficiary.

Don't have a timeline? Don't know how to get started with it? Do it for the statistics sake: VJ video guide

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.
