I know my six months will be up August 26. I just made an infopass appointment for the 23rd of this month. Our i130 is taking forever it seems. You gotta love the USCIS. Hahaha.

I called USCIS today and talked to a Tier2 officer after 2-1/2hrs on waiting on the line. She told me that both my husband and stepson's files are actively being worked on and has been assigned since Aug.13. Finally my files are on somebody's desk. She also told me that it normally takes 6wks for them to process a case so she mentioned that I may have a decision by late Sept. That's good news, at least I know that my files are not somewhere in limbo...My priority date is Feb.28, 2013.

Good luck and God bless us all....

who is tier2??

From what I gather - reading posts here - tier 2 is the guy who is supposed to know more than the tier 1 guy, but usually doesn't. He is programmed to say things like: "wait 2 more weeks", or "your 6 months are not up yet".

Tier2 is a person higher than the 1st person you speak with when you call the 800 no. I called a week before and was given an inquiry number so I do not have to wait on the phone for a long time. They said

Tier2 officer will give me a call. But no one did for 5days so I called again and gave them the inquiry no. they gave me the first time. This time, they asked me to wait, so I waited 2-1/2 hrs on hold. Was worth the wait because the person who answered the phone was actually looking at my 2 petitions. Was told the petition for my husband and stepson were both together and very active as of that moment. She said that my files were on somebody's desk August 13 and so far so good. She gave me a 6wks wait for a decision which is a normal time she said for somebody to work on if the case has no problem. So yeah, I am holding on to her words that by late Sept to 1st wk Oct, there will be some kind of movement from "Intitial review to Decision". If nothing happens, I guess I have to call them again.

6 weeks is ####### if its already on someone's desk.... There is an ex-adjudicator Q&A post on here where he states it only takes about 15 minutes to process one file. They throw a 6 week time frame at you so you will stop calling... This is such a shame that they are taking so long. I hope you get approved soon.

I know..i wish we don't have to wait this long. It looks like they record all the inquiries we do, so my advice is, at this point, when we have a chance is to keep on calling. I wonder if I didn't call on August 9, maybe my file is still in a big stack somewhere and not on somebody's desk on Aug. 13. So yeah, calling is free and most people I spoke with at the 800no were pretty nice. I will call again next week...good luck to us all...

Spoke to the Tier2 agent again today. It's going to be 7 months for us on 29th of this month. Put in a service request. This time the Tier2 agent said our file was transferred to the NYC office on June 11.

Does the case start the 6-8 month timeline all over again after it is transferred? The last time we spoke to the Tier2 agent in June, she said your case transferred to NYC in March. cray5ol.gif

Today on Aug 20th when you called they said your petition was transferred to NYC on June 11, when you spoke with Tier 2 back in June she said it was transferred in March? So, basically if that is true then it went to NYC came back to NBC and sent back to NYC?

This kind of shuffling of docs really makes me mad. I don't think Tier 2 are any knowledgeable than Tier 1. Granted they have more information available but what good does it do if they don't want to or don't know how to retrieve it?

I suggest, call back again until you hear the same answer from at least two rep.

kind of counter productive the way they shuffle the files back and forth..... OMG everyday its something new.

I heard they only transfer cases if they need extra work or if they need to interview the petitioner. Its seems odd to me that they would send it twice. What a waste of time. I hope you get an approval out of this !
