What exactly does the service request do? Is it any different than talking to a tier 2 or infopass?

damn. not expecting mine anytime soon.

i don't know what it does actually. they usually suggest after 6 months. Tier 2 officers usually refused to give me more info most of the time and suggested service request. i didn't do it before but last time i talked to tier 2 he put it in for me and told me i'll hear something in july. they may listen and look in to my case or they can reject the request . that's what he told me . Since he said i should hear something around 17 of july, and on 20th will be whole 5 months. I have also made appointment to visit the congressman office on 20th incase it keeps delaying.

I just called the NVC and they said my case is complete and ill get a email in 3 days saying so... And now they have to schedual an interview in manila PI. Is that another month? UGHH

Just got an email from NVC asking me to do some corrections to the Affidavit of Support form, I'm overnighting today.

I am also in Nor Cal and would need it once my 6months is up etc. I hope I wont have to use it but just in case.

We're at the 5 month marker and still no NOA2

I got a email saying:

Dear Sir or Madam:

The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing
of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner
and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment
until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.

The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of
the interview. Additional documentation requirements if applicable can be referenced at

July is almost coming to end and only 1 approval in July for february filers. This is taking for ever and I am losing hope

Finally, found out on USCIS website today, we are approved for the NOA2. <Yeah> Almost 5 and 1/2 months. Now on to the NVC !!!

Congrats again!. Good to hear the wait still seems normal. 5 to 6 months is ok .

Thanks again ! Yes, 5 to 6 months, seems to be the normal waiting timeframe average. Just remember, for every person, that receives an approval in 3 months, means someone else, will have to wait 9 months. I guess that's why, it called an average !

Going to be 6 months exactly on 29 July for us. Looking to make an infoPass, but it says "No information appointments available at this time". Does this happen frequently? What to do now? I hope I'm choosing the right option "Service on a File that's already filed". Also, should we place a Service Request before going for the infoPass?
