Is it possible to get the medical exam finished prior to sending the case to NVC? I would like to have all the paper work done and ready to go before that big day. Do I need a NVC case number to get the official medical exam? How about police records check?

That's country specific. Some countries allow the beneficiary to do the medical ahead of time, but others require you to take the P4 email detailing the date of the interview and all that in order to get an appointment. I'd call the doctor and ask, but doing the medical before the case even makes it to NVC seems a bit too early. I'd wait at least until you've sent off the IV and AOS packages to NVC.

It's not DCF. DCF is when the USC lives abroad with the beneficiary, and meets the long lists of requirements necessary to be able to file directly with the embassy, usually including legal residency of that country for a minimum of six months. A very small amount of countries are able to do this anymore - Peru, Germany, Italy, to name a few. DCF has a different procedure than the normal I-130 filing, and is much much quicker. From the day they file the I-130 to the day they're issued the visa is usually a matter of weeks.

Filing from abroad is something different - they file all the same paperwork through a lockbox as everyone else, but for some reason when a foreign address is put on the I-130, the approval seems to come faster (somewhere around the two month mark, usually). They do all the same stuff and are required the same documents throughout the whole process. You would've had to move to Hong Kong if you would have wanted that, and even then this "auto-expedite" isn't promised. I filed from abroad (and am still abroad, for that matter) and got no special treatment. I had to wait 197 days for my NOA2.

what about k3 visa. Is it worth while for a feb. I - 130? How long do they take to receive? Could it cut down on our separation time?

No. The K3 is an obsolete visa, and aren't being issued anymore. It was for cases years ago when the I-130 took much longer to process, but nowadays the K3 and CR-1/IR-1 have just about the same processing time, so they've all but deleted it. If your K3 were to get an NOA2 at the USCIS level, it would just get closed at NVC. People even seem to think filing an I-129f with your I-130 slows down processing for both, so it could actually make you wait more.

We contacted our senator to find out where the visa is and we're told that it was sent to Philadelphia. No note on my online account, it still says it was last touched 8 feb, same day it got to the nbc. I've seen the stats for Philly, I think they have over 3000, but can't find a group for Philly filers, so I figured I'd ask here. Does anyone know what month Philly I currently processing?

Hi Guys,

I called USCIS today and found out that they are currently processing August 2012 - I-130 for Spouse applications right now. They also told me that my file is at NBC and then it will send out to local field office. I applied on Jan 25, 2013. Does anyone is in same situation?

I am little worried since they told me that it will still take around 4-5 months to except reply back from them.

Please let me know.

Thanks!!

I would not worry about the time frame USCIS gave you. It all depends on your local field office work load. Where is the city that you live in? This will give you a better idea of how long the wait will be.

Is there really any benefit to making an infopass and meeting with an immigration officer? I feel like they will just tell you the same generic information that you get when you call the 800 number at USCIS. It seems like each case will take as long as it will take.

I am going to a info. pass appointment this week. I will let ya know if it helps.

I AM USC
