Hi everyone.

I-130 Sent : 2013-03-01

I-130 NOA1 : 2013-03-12

Haven't heard anything yet. When I filled out the I-130, I put in the USA address although I have been living with my wife here in FIJI the past 6 months. I just got approval for residency of 1 year. My question is; is it too late or ill advised to contact MSC with changing address and asking that they expedite? Wife, is due to have baby any day now and we want to leave here asap.

You can try to change the address, but if you didn't put it on the original form it's going to be hard to convince them to put a foreign address - the reps have been saying that they don't send mail abroad anymore, though that's a blatant lie. Even if you could change it, asking to expedite wouldn't do anything. The "auto-expedite" for filers from abroad has never been acknowledged by any USCIS rep; it's more of something that VJ users have picked up on, so mentioning it to USCIS would get you nowhere. Insofar as asking for a normal expedite because your wife is pregnant, that wouldn't work either - unless it's a very high risk pregnancy or something of the sort that would put her or the baby in danger, expedites for pregnancy don't get granted.

Also, since you NOA1 is for March, you can head over to the March filers thread to add your info!

Hi everyone!

My priority date is Feb 5, and I called today to find out where my case was (it still doesn't even show up online). I had a surprisingly pleasant conversation with both the Tier 1 and Tier 2 officers I spoke to (despite the 30 minute wait in between transfers). The Tier 2 officer told me that my case was transferred to my field office of Washington D.C. on March 13. I wonder if this is a good or bad thing....any D.C. folks out there?

12/30/2012 Got married!

02/01/2013 Sent I-130 via Priority Mail USPS

02/05/2013 NOA1 Priority Date

04/09/2013 Called USCIS-informed by Tier 2 officer that my case was transferred to Washington D.C. on March 13

09/05/2013 NOA2

09/27/2013 NVC received case

Submitted DS-261

Paid AOS bill

10/16/2013 Paid IV bill

10/19/2013 Submitted DS-260
10/21/2013 Mailed AOS and IV packages overnight

11/15/2013 IV package accepted/Checklist for AOS

11/26/2013 New AOS documents received at NVC

12/19/2013 Case Complete

12/27/2013-Received Interview letter

01/26/2014-Husband's Medical Exam

02/13/2014-Interview- Approved, but the consular officer did not see I-864 joint sponsor documents, and sent my husband home with the packet of all the original documents, and told him to mail it in when he gets it. My husband realized that the "missing" documents had been there all along. Husband immediately mailed it back.

02/26/2014-Consular office received "missing" documents and gave it to CO for review

03/17/2014-Visa Issued!

03/20/2014- Received Visa

03/21/2014- POE!

So, I called USCIS again today and asked when our petition would be transferred to a local field office. The agent said she didn't know but I should be receiving a biometric's appointment soon. Is this the normal progession of things?

Biometrics isn't for IR-1/CR-1, so the lady you talked to had no idea what she was talking about. Call again and talk to somebody else. If they tell you the same thing, check to make sure they have you on file as filing for an IR-1/CR-1 and not AOS.

No, but you did call the misinformation line and at least they didn't tell you to contact/visit the embassy to get more information. Seriously, true story, happened twice to me.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.
