I don't know. Do we really have to call in fact ? Can we just not wait for the papers to arrive by mail ? I read everywhere that everybody calls but I don't really understand why ?

Thanx for the advice. The thing is that my husband's driver's licence has expired after he arrived in France. It's impossible to renew it from abroad and to be able to open a bank account online, they ask for a unexpired valid state ID or driver's licence. It's a circle with no end :bonk:

A lot of people call to speed up the process. There are a couple of shortcut guides that demonstrate how to do this.

You'll not want to include his French visa that expires in 2014, unless that is the date you plan to leave.

If you don't have any bank accounts, driver's licenses, voting records, or anything else - I'd suggest you get a lease from the parents. Our final accepted by the embassy list had my soon to be house in America (will, probate documents, and title), bank account and credit cards with US addresses, driver's license, recently renewed library card, SS card, unexpired AAA card for the area I intend to live in, proof of being on my mother's car insurance for the past 6 years, etc.

I know some embassies are stricter than others, so I would try and generate a little bit more evidence.

We plan to live at the beginning of November  So it's not a good idea at all to provide his french visa ? I thought it could be a good proof that he's going to come back to USA before it expires. Let's say I have my interview in June and I have 6 months to enter USA, there's only 4 months between the last date we can move and the date of expiration of the french visa.

My husband voted from abroad for the last presidential election but we don't know what to give to prove it. We never got any paper back stating that the vote has been considered.

My husband and his father don't see the point of making a lease since he's just going back to the place he always lived in. They just wanted to write a statement but if you say that it's not going to be enough, I guess we're going to consider making a "fake" lease. Everything has to be complicated in this process, that's just crazy.

Thank you for trying to help us Nola (F)

I just finished a conversation with USCIS customer service. They assure me that my case is being processed at the NBC and has not been reassigned to a local field office. I don't know if I can trust this information but I suppose it's good if true considering my local office is Dallas.

The same happened to us on Tuesday when my husband rang.

They actually told him it was at the NBC then at the NVC in the same conversation (on top of some other rubbish the ISO told him).

He is going to call back today and do as if he hadn t called and we ll see what kind of story he ll get this time!

What s important is that you log all the calls somewhere so if your application goes over, you have some back up proof that you ve were pushed from pillar to post.

Any February filers call the USCIS to see if there case has been transferred to a local office yet?

Generally it takes around a month since NOA1 to transfer a case to a local office correct? This is assuming the case gets transferred and doesn't stay and get processed at NBC

i got a tier 2 on the phone yesterday who told me my case was transferred to a local office (san fernando valley) on March 13, so I made an infopass since my case status is not showing up online.. I was originally at the NBC.. with DACA I don't think it is such a good thing :(

Does the USC reside abroad?

Clemjam.. quick question. I thought you lived abroad with your spouse? Why did you file at the Phoenix lockbox? I thought if you lived abroad you had to file at the chicago lockbox?

EDIT: oops I just went back and read that your husband went back to the U.S before you, and sent it from there. forget my question! ( i wonder if that will have any effect on wether your petition gets approved quickly or not.. )

I m wondering that too!

I m having my husband call them for a second time today as they told him our case was closed with the USCIS and that checks were being carried on my identity and criminal recod. Once this is done, our case sill be sent to the Paris Embassy.

Now I ve NEVER heard of such thing. We do have contacts with my husband s Senator and wrote to him sending all our information on Monday, could this be that the case got expedited?!

We don t even who or where to contact now, no NVC number but more importantly no notification from USCIS that our I130s were approved!

Are you sure he spoke to an ISO, because I had CSRs tell me that about my case.

Other problem is that it should not be sent directly to the embassy if it is doing that. Take a look at ludakrishna's case.
