I got here in new york last week,Jan. 26 2012. It's been a happy/sad experience because I misd my family and friends back home. But i'm happy to that finally I'm wirh my hubby after 10 months of waiting game. Thanks again VJets for helping us!

My question is.. Do I need to apply for me to have an SSN card or is it automatic already? How long do I have to wait for my SSN card? I really really need to get a job, I don't want to be a housewife here in the US.boredom and lonliness will eat me alive so I need to get moving and keep myself busy.

Hope you could help me,VJets! Have a good day!:)

Did you tick the box that you wanted a Social Security number assigned to you and a card mailed out? If so, then allow a few weeks for it to arrive. If it doesn't arrive, you will need to go to the nearest SSA office in-person.

welcome to New York =) You need to apply for ur SSN to the nearest ssn office..san kba sa NY? usually it takes 1-2 weeks for u to get the SSN card. With regards to WORK...if u came here in k1 visa u have to focused first to get married before 90 days and process a AOS to get a employement card authorization for u to legally work here in US...getting a ssn doesn't mean ur allowed to work. But then if u came here with spousalvisa, wait for ur green card and that would only be the time u can work legally. Goodluck on ur process....
