Hi everyone. It's great to see our fellow February VJ friends passing their interviews and getting their oath ceremony letters. :)

I have a quick question.. my husband's interview is on Monday (and I think I am more nervous than he is :D ). For those who have been through their interviews, is it necessary for my husband to take his social security card with him? He knows the number by heart, but does he need to show the actual card or it's not a requirement? Of course, he has his green card and all other documentation; I am just not sure what the protocol is in regards to the social security card.

I want to make sure we have everything in place and ready for Monday.

Thanks for your guidance.

They asked me my SSN at the interview, I told them out right I don't know it by heart but I have it in my wallet if i'm allowed to get it out and show you. He said yes your not expected to memorize it.

Took it out read it off and showed him the card. The nodded and said fine.

My husband also knows his social security number by heart, and he was not asked to show the card. He had it with him along with a bunch of other stuff (old passports etc) but the interviewer didn't want to see any of it.

Good luck for your husband's interview!

Hi Heidi, I am glad your husband's case is moving to the interview. In regard to your question about the Social Security Card, I got to tell you that it depends on your husband's USCIS Officer and your case, because mine asked me for my Social Security Card, my Passport and my Green Card, right when he met me at the waiting room just to make sure I had everything he needed to set up my case. He did not greet me and just said "Did you bring your Social Security Card, Your Passport and your Green Card?. So it is always a good idea if your husband takes his Social Security Card with him. Nobody knows!! . My best wishes for you!

Thank you Inky, Lailuminada 33 and Athena June for your responses.

We decided to have my husband take his SS card. If they ask for the number, he can say it and if they need to see the card, he can show the card to the IO.

Thanks for your kind wishes as well. Last night I had a dream that my husbad missed his appointment and was late. In the dream I was freaking out that we had to reschedule the appointment. I woke up in a state of panic. Meanwhile, my husband is way too relaxed. rolleyes.gif
