The date under "Int Ltr." is supposed to be the date when you have received the physical interview notice or hard copy, not the date when USCIS texted or emailed you that an interview has been scheduled.

My interview is going to be on May 14!!!!! Will my hubby be able to enter with me in the office that day or I will be alone the whole time?

I think most, if not all field offices allow spouses at the waiting area. There are even stories on VJ that occasionally an IO would request to meet the USC spouse of those who are applying for N-400 based on marriage.

I will certainly take my husband with me during the interview.

From what I understand, your husband can enter the building with you, but he will not be allowed into the actual interview room. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong. :)

Thank you for your congrats! I know he will be in the waiting area but I was asking about the interview room so now I got my answer. If you Calypso say that sometimes they could ask to meet the USC, that means he cannot go outside for anything, he will have to stay there in the waiting room, that sucks a bit.....

My review.

Omaha, Nebraska.

Testing, interview ---

We showed up around just before 10 and waited in the parking lot till about 10:10 and went in. They had a bit of a line up, more people than I had usually seen at the local office!

They directed me to go to the right past the biometrics office to a wall with a checkin desk, handed over my sheet and she told us to sit down, small area to sit with a TV.

- My husband was allowed in without question, he fell asleep 7-8 times while we were waiting for me to be called in.

- They seemed to be a bit behind and I wasn't called in till after my actual appointment time, appeared I was the last to be interviewed of the day possibly!

I got called in by my IO - Burke. He seemed very nice! walked down a hall of interview rooms and sat in nearly the last room of the hall way.

- he asked for my ID, green card(s), passport(s). He took away my AOS green card and gave back my current card. He had me sign the 2 passport photos from initial submission on the front of them to confirm it was in fact me.

We started with review of the initial form. Reading off the information and questions from the sheet to confirm the information and i'm pretty sure it is also a " test of your comprehension"

- a lady before me failed because she did not comprehend the questions asked of her =(

At the end of going over the forms he showed me 2 sheets one for my information for my certificate which had to be checked and signed. The other was a "notation sheet" which he explained I had 6 notations, he went over each notation with me and had me sign off that I understood and the information was correct.

- notations such as, not currently employed, not a male so no selective service, married currently, never separated from my husband etc.

He then began with the Civics portion first, going down the list of questions he had on a sheet.

- I can read upside down, I was able to quickly read questions before he asked lol

- Who vetoes bills?

- What is the supreme law of the land?

- What is the capital of your state?

- What is an amendment?

Cant remember the others but I got the first 6 asked correct so he stopped there.

Then he moved to the reading and passed me a sheet with 5 sentences and said pick whichever one and read it. Joked it was basically a formality for Canadians lol.

- Where is the White House?

then had me write down " The White House is in Washington DC."

Then he said I passed, gave me a sheet of paper stating I passed the test and said he recommended me for approval. After which he offered me a same day oath if I wanted to come back at 1:45pm. Of course I said yes! Got my oath letter from him.

- husband and I went to typical American food joint for lunch, McDonalds!! hung out at mcds for a little while then went back and sat in the parking lot for a bit before going inside again. ( not much to do in that area! )

Oath ---

Going inside this time they directed me to the left, the large room where the ICE/ court proceedings are dealt with.

- sat for quite a while in there with quite a few others

Later a man came out introduced himself ( totally forget his name now!) Explained he would call 3 names at a time and you must bring your Oath letter and green card to him, that the letter must be signed before you come up.

We would each be given a number and would be seated in the seat corresponding to our number.

- filled mine out in the car before we went in, basically signature, address, date and some boxes all checked off as " No " because I didn't do anything bad between the interview and the oath lol.

- waited a bit and got called up, got my number 15. sat back down with my husband till all the "numbered people" were called up.

We all went through a door and a hall way into another room with seats, flags and a projector that was set up.

-just a little over 20 people.

Everyone sat down and he explained what the package was that was in our seats, (passport forms, instructions for filing for kids etc ) explained what would happen, oath, some videos etc, then said he would go get our familys and they would come in.

- everyone came in, my husband sat at the extreme back of the room lol... no camera with him but you are allowed cameras! there were quite a few kids there too!

We all stood for the National Anthem to be played.

All the soon to be Citizens were asked to stand and another man came in to have us repeat the oath. We said the oath and they congratulated us on becoming citizens of the USA.

Then we watched 2 videos, one of President Obama addressing new citizens. The other a music video for " Proud to be an American".

After the videos we were given our Certificates, called up by row one by one to collect them.

Congratulated again and told it was "picture time" if people wanted pictures with flags and such.

I was the only Canadian there =( one man from the UK tho! =)

All done! I'm still on a high of sorts from all of the events today!
