anyone still waiting for interview notice? Kentucky and Tennessee (I'm on the border, no idea which one i'll get sent to) have processing times set for October and December 2012 respectively. Called about 6 weeks ago and told to just wait. Has anyone put in a service request from either of these offices? timeframes?

Hi all, I'm based in LA, CA and my wife and I sent in our AOS packet late January. She had her biometrics appointment in mid-April, but now there's no word. She came in on a K-1 Fiance Visa. Anyone else in the same boat care to share their timeline? How long after the biometrics date will we be contacted for the interview?

Also, how do you go about getting a SSN and Driver's license? I did some research but it says she needs a valid I-94, however, it has now expired. What are the chances she can get a SSN if we go to the SSA office and apply? Is our marriage certificate enough?

She was turned down at the CA DMV for her I-94 expiration date being too soon to when we went. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would have thought that, but I'd had a notice in Hawaii, but because my husband is military, we moved with the army before the interview date, that was several months ago, I called for a reschedule as soon as I got the notice and saw the interview date was scheduled 6 days after we were due to leave the islands, they said 'no problems at all', call us when you have a new address and we'll get you rescheduled. I called with a change of address once we had one, and was told to just wait, I called twice more as nothing happened and I wanted to make sure there was nothing further I was supposed to do. I got frustrated yesterday, I didn't even know which office my case had been forwarded to! I shamelessly pulled the military card on the poor lad that answered the USCIS phone, which he chose to put me through to a second level officer, the hold service said I had a 704 minute wait, so I opted to have them call me back, which they did about 300 minutes later, bonus. The Officer advised that my file was sitting idly in the Honolulu office and I had to make an info pass appointment with my nearest office to request it to be transferred here, apparently one of the 4 times I called to inquire, I should have been told this. ?!!

my AP was also approved but there is no explanation why I never received a combo card (just got EAD that states 'not valid for re-entry') so he put in an inquiry to follow that up.

Infopass appointment set for next Thursday in Memphis!

This is my first immigration bump in the road, there had to be one somewhere along the way!

sucks about your status at NBC, my situation seems to be a little easier, *touch wood*, so its just gone into a large empty vortex?

Unfortunately, you're not saying whether she has received her EAD yet. I got my SSN right after I entered the U.S. in January, long before the I-94 expired. Now that your wife's I-94 is expired, she will most likely have to wait until she has her EAD to get an SSN.

As for the DL, when I applied for my Learner Permit here in OK with my I-94 back in March, I was also turned down. I had to wait for my EAD in order to apply. I do not know anything about the CA DMV's requirements, but I suggest you check their website to find out what their requirements are.

Chances are you won't be having an interview since she came on a K1. Current processing times for the Interview waiver cases are running between 8-12 months.

Good luck!

thanks for your reply. We didn't apply for EAD or AP. Is it too late to do so?

8-12 months seems ridiculously long to go without a DL or SSN. We'll see what we can do.

That's why you should always apply for an EAD/AP even if your wife decides not to work in the U.S. - it'll hold her over until she has her Green Card, and it is free if it is sent along with the AOS application. As far as I know, she can still apply for an EAD and AP for free as long as the AOS has not been approved (make sure you read the instructions carefully and send along a copy of the AOS NOA1). Current processing times for the EAD/AP are at 60-90 days (mine was 65), which is considerably faster than the Green Card. Good luck!

Well I had my infopass appointment, first thing the officer says is.. 'your file is in Honolulu, you have to request it yourself to be sent to Memphis, via letter' I nearly lost it. This is the first part of the process that just seems to be a complete balls-up. After my husband jumped in and gave her a few stern words, I looked at her in disbelief and told her what was going on and how I had followed EVERY single instruction we were given to get this sorted out, she said she might be able to send the fax to the office for us. She spoke to her supervisor, got some of my docs from me and somehow managed to send the request through herself. She said it should take about 30 days for the file to be delivered and then I go to the back of the line for an interview, but advised that I could request an expedite due to their admin processes being messed up. I still don't have my AP, its not on my EAD card, but apparently it was approved. I might tackle that one again later in the week.

the wait continues.

Posting after a long time. Just had our interview today. The Imm Officer was too nice. He almost said that we are approved. We took our cute 2-1/2 yr. old son and equally cute 8mo. old daughter. I guess that was enough to prove bona fide marriage lollll not to mention two heavy album of our three years of marriage together. But he never asked for anything. I have come here in student visa in the 90's overstayed. He was just going through the the papers they already have under my name including papers from one petition that was denied in early 90's and I have never followed through afterwards and up until now and via marriage I have never tried/or had a option to adjust my status.

He just wanted a recent document/letter as a proof of residence from my wife and anything that has both of our names on other than what was submitted previously(but he also said if not it is ok as well). So, we gave him our joint measely bank statement. He shook my hand and congratulated me...but specificly said that he approved the case because he has legal oblication to serve my us citizen wife and do what is best for her as a citizen.... And that was it :)

Next few minutes, he went over the naturalization process in three years and what my rights are etc. He(a grandfather) tried to talk to my son but my son did not seem very interested.... so in an effort to make my (getting bored) son smile he started making funny faces......and he accompanied us out to the door with a very playful and well-wishing manner...

And this was all in NYC Federal Building........

Interview time: 9am

We checked in: 8:30am

Go called in: 8:45am

Walked out: 9:20am(Most time was spent him complimenting and talking to my son and daughter as he has few grand kids of their age)

STARTIN AT1:45pm Received few texts and emails saying the case approved...card in productions etc...some of them are repetive

And lastly just want to thank everyone who I shared my concerns in this great forum and those who supported with sympathy and empathy during this ordeal. Thanks to all!!!

And good luck to everyone who are still waiting for a conclusion. All the best!!!
