Im going to the interview in Ciudad Juarez next week, the letter of the consulate at CJ mention me and my son as the traveling applicants, but im going just me, because my son and i have agreed he will continue studying in mexico and may start for his visa process at a later time but want to visit during his vacations, hes 17 years old and we are goinna marry before he reach 18.

Today when i called to the Consulate they told me i wont have the inetrview if my son is not with me, because my case includes my son and me.

Do you have any idea if this is correct or maybe if i explain the officer what happened will they just receive me? i really dont know what to do.

Please help.

Did you indicate that your son was planning to follow you? If he is not traveling and you are going to apply for him at a later date, just tell them at the consulate when you arrive for the interview that it was a mistake on the paperwork. Same thing happened to my fiance and it was not a problem. I would not trust what they tell you on the telephone as the people at the consulate are very misinformed.

As I understand it, the child only needs to attend the interview with the parent is he was included in the petition and intends to travel with or follow you. It would be smart to ask your fiance in the US to confirm this with an immigration attorney before you travel as well as to be sure you understand the proper way to file for him down the road.
