IV Packet Assembly

So we all know that it's advisable to use acco fasteners and not staples when putting together your packets for immigration. Thing is, with the IV packet, there are original documents (birth and marriage cert, police clearance) that I'd rather not punch holes through! So I was going to use a transparent sheet protector thingy, like this: http://i01.i.aliimg.com/photo/v0/445693899/sheet_protector_Stationery_protector_sheets_White_strip.jpg but then I read a lot of people saying that's a no-no too! So how am I supposed to put together this packet without damaging those oh-so-important originals? Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks!

I used binder clips to group all my documents together because I didn't want any holes in any of my documents either. Maybe use the fasteners for your supporting documents and binder clips for the original documents.

i suggest colored paper.

using a laser printer - in portrait mode...

print in big letters the name of the thing (birth certificate, pcc, etc)

under that, in smaller letters, write the NVC Casefile #, the Beneficiary's name and DOB and the petitioner's name and DOB.

then once it's out of the laser printer - TURN IT SIDEWAYS, take yer civil doc, put it behind the colored paper, fold the colored paper around the civil doc without creasing the civil doc.

I just put one paper behind another with the barcoded sheet on top. Then I secured everything together with ONE staple. No problems. Do not forget do NEATLY print your NVC case number in the upper right hand corner of ALL your documents, including your originals!

I like Darnell's idea. I really don't want to be stapling my birth certificate or marriage certificate. Or hole punching it. Thankfully I have EP and online forms! But I love his suggestion along with a binder clip or large paperclip for documents. We used paper clips and binder clips for our I-130 package.

ya, no staples for NVC stuff. Don't forget to write yer case # on all pages (pencil, on the civil docs)

Paper clips! They're easy to take off for the officers who are reviewing your packages.

Ok maybe I'm not visualizing this right, but isn't this just making a pocket out of paper? You hole punch the paper/pocket thingy you printed and place your original in it. If that's the case, then transparent sheet protectors are the same idea, right? I could just add a label to the outside of the protector with all the biodata and case #. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Paper clips might work...just paper clip the document to the paper before or after it that IS hole punched and secured in the folder.

I used separate sheets labelling each section correctly like 'Birth Certificate', 'Marriage Certificate', 'I-130', 'G-325', etc. then I just used small binder clips and large paper clips to secure the entire bunch from left and top. Put the pictures in plastic zip lock bag and attached with other docs. Then I sent it...I think you would be fine without any transperent sheets and please don't punch hole in your originals. You would be fine...

Just use paperclips.

don't punch holds,don't use staples.use paper clips, and use a large spring clamp on top an a rubber band on the bottom of your file.on the upper righ side corner i used a small stic ky paper to put my alien number on every page.go to the us post office use free large envelope priority mail-or-express mail goes to a different address,

We used binder clips for our I-130 package and are using them again for the NVC packages. We don't want holes in our original documents, either.

Everyone here is saying to write your case number on the corner of each page... I don't see that in the instructions anywhere... Am I missing something?
