Pew: 53% of Americans say the government threatens their freedom

For the first time in at least the last two decades, a majority of Americans say Washington actually poses a threat to their “personal rights and freedoms.”

And it’s not just tea party supporters, Republicans and gun owners.

Nearly two-fifths of Democrats (38 percent) say the government is a threat to them personally, as do 45 percent of non-gun owners.

Overall, the percentage of Americans who view the federal government as a threat has increased from 36 percent in May 1995 to 53 percent today.

Freedom is relative and an illusion. We may be more free or less free relative to other countries but we are also as free as we are led to believe.

Of course government restricts your freedom. The only free people in the US are the homeless winos, that can poop and pee anywhere at anytime.

BTW: "Right Thinking" can be a pejorative on so many levels.

47% of the people polled are clearly ignorant of reality. Though most probably prefer it that way.

Though as Sly said, freedom is relative. It depends on what your definition is on a personal level.
