My fiancee and I have just sent off our I-129F and we have a few questions.

How do people plan weddings accordingly if they have no idea really when the visa will be issued?

We are aiming to have our wedding(s) around April 2014 time, thinking that would give us enough time to sort all the visa stuff out. If it was issued in say, August, then does he have 6 months to come to U.S. AND get married or does he have 6 months to enter, and then another 90 days to marry?

Any advice would help us! Thanks!

Once the visa is issued you will have 6 months to enter the US with the visa. After you enter the US with the visa, your visa becomes void and you will have a new document, your I-94, which will give you 90 days to stay in the US to get married. So all in all you will have nearly 9 months to plan/get married after you are issued the visa.

My fiancee was issued her visa in November, and she will be coming to the US in February. We have not made any concrete plans yet for our wedding, we only talked about ideas and things we would like to do. We are going to finalize our wedding date soon, and start to make the arrangements for a simple ceremony. We plan to be married the first part of March. This is so far how we are doing it.

Hello,

Honestly, as for the wedding plans...it is really hard to do...but you seem to be planning way ahead..it seems that it would be possible for April. Or you can have a small ceremony straight away and then do the "big planned wedding" later. Just a thought :)

And yes after one receives visa they can come anytime in the 6 months from visa issuance and then they have 90 days to get married (90 from the date they enter US).

Also, good luck on your journey, hope it goes well :)

As has already been mentioned, timing a big ceremony with guests alongside the K1 process can be tricky, it can be a simpler method to just have a small ceremony at a registry office or whatever they call them in the US, just a simple contract signing to get the official/legal side of it taken care of in order to progress to the next stage in the immigration process.

Just go with what works best for you, there are options. :)

Therefore, you don't plan anything until the visa is in hand.

Sound very do-able.

6 months in which to use the K-1 to enter the US and then must get married within 90 days of that entry.

Any advice would help us! Thanks!
