Hi guys.

My interview was finally scheduled for next week, February 5th, 2013, at the US Embassy in Rio ;-)

Of course, I made some efforts to be there with my wife, so, I have flown to Brazil, and I am coming back on Feb 6th !!!!

NOW, I AM SUCH A AWESOME HUSBAND, to make efforts to go to the interview, that I made my reservations at 12:05 AM on Feb 6th, as opposed to be late on the day on Feb 6th, ;-( Basically, I have my interview in the morning, 7 AM onwards, and have to be in Sao Paulo by 9 PM, in order to do the check in for my flight back.

SOOOOOO

I know that there is a wait there, especially if couples have kids ( we have no kids ), so, IF i am able to get out of there by lunch time, I will be fine. I will grab a flight to Sao Paulo around 3 or 4 PM , and have plenty of time to be at the airport. My only concern is if interviews take all day. For what I have read before, the interviews are very short, minutes, but people wait a couple of hours or so, then there is the red tape of having to pay for the FEDEX, etc, so, is it safe to understand that a normal interview would take about 3 or 4 hours there ?

I would appreciate it if you have done the interview at the Brazilian embassy in Rio, to get back to me ;-)

Cheers,

Henrique

at the Brazilian embassy in Rio

For purposes of semantics, there is no such thing as a Brazilian Embassy in Rio de Janeiro. Embassies are located abroad (usually, but not always in the host country's national capital). For example, the US Embassy in Brazil is located in Brasilia. The US Consulate in Rio de Janeiro is where Immigrant Visa interviews take place.

Hi, I can only tell you about my K-1 interview, which took a couple of hours waiting. The interview with the Consul is not long - about 10-15m if it's all cut and clear, but there is a waiting until your # is called out. So yes, I'd say you'd probably spend the whole morning. Good luck!

Thanks, I can be there for about 6 or 7 hours, I hope that is enough ;-)
