I posted this in the wrong place, so I'm posting it here. Sorry for double posts.

Ok, my Step MIL had her visa interview on January 17th in Juarez, Mexico. Hubby's dad's name on his birth certificate is wrong, which NVC didn't reject it so I didn't think it would be an issue, but the consulate did. So she was told at the interview to send in his birth certificate to verify he name but on the form we were told that we had to send official documentation of name change.

So I called the next day and they told me to send in a certified birth certificate and a letter notarized by my husband stating that he never changed his name. We also told to call to schedule DHL to send in the paperwork. They told me on the phone that since I'm sending the information from the US, I have to send it to the PO box in EL Paso and I could not send it DHL. Therefore, I sent it next day USPS, so they would have received it on the 20th and I know that they received it because its been signed for by the post office.

I just called to see if they have received it and ask how long to process. Now I was told that I shouldn't have sent it to the post office box, but DHL to the consulate. Since I sent it to the post office box, it will take 6 weeks to process. But if I had sent it through DHL it would have taken 3 weeks.

The issues is that she needs to apply as soon as possible for her minor son because he is 19 now its a race against time for him aging out. Every day counts. When I calculate the current processing time, by my calculation, we need to get his paperwork submitted in February. March may be to late. Instead of waiting 2 1/2 years or visa, he will have to wait 20 years.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions or know of anyway I can get them to process the paperwork quicker.

resend the documents directly to the consulate would seem the best solution. Good luck

I can't because it was her passport and certified copy of birth certificate.
