Now, I know there's no solid 100% sure response to this, but looking at timelines it looks like most cases at NVC (assuming there are no checklists/problems) get completed within 10 - 14 days of being received at NVC. Hubby is getting really excited and wants to have a vague idea of how long a case completion will take. Do you guys think around two weeks is a valid estimate?

Remember, a package will only show up in the operators' system once the review has begun. Until then, it shows up as not being received. It's very likely your package is in the building, just that the review hasn't started yet. Did you not get tracking for your packages?

Yes, once NVC has your packages, it's about 1-2 weeks to review them. If no checklist is issued, then 2 weeks is a very reasonable time estimate for case completion.

Yep! you're right. I was just hoping maybe they had started reviewing! I'm aiming for an April interview according to what the CO at the Embassy said. I've got this week and next week I think to get an April interview day, so I'm reaaaally hoping they look at ours on Monday!

Unfortunately we did not get tracking for our packages :/ Between the IV Bill, weird Danish pay schedules, and moving from Denmark, we were really short on cash this month so just getting them as priority A was a stretch. Still, I have faith in the Icelandic postal service. They've never screwed anything up so far! (*knock on wood* 7,9,13 [ that one's an icelandic superstition!])

1. okay I realized that I forgot to include the 2011 tax returns in my AOS but what is the rest of this checklist asking for ?

2.I thought it was optional to submit more that one year tax returns/transcripts ? because I only want to use the most recent (2011) before 2012 hits us in april ? So do I really need to include a letter stating that I do not want to submit 2010,2009 because I don't think it will be no help to my case ?

3. I may have calculated wrong on I-864 part 6 Question 25 can you refresh my memory as to the proper way to add this part up ? I think I added up the federal taxes part on my two W2's and i guess I was suppose to add up the wages, ect. ? My mind is just puzzled to figure this out on my own I need assurance lol

Supporting Documents Missing or Incomplete

[x] A written statement/explanation as to why tax returns were not filed is required if you are/have been

unemployed, retired or dependent.

[x] The submitted income tax documents/IRS statements for the years marked below are missing/incomplete (if

you have lost any of the requested tax information, contact your local IRS office to obtain a copy) (Only

Federal returns (not state or local) are acceptable unless the sponsor's income was earned in Puerto Rico.)

• Federal income tax returns, literal printouts from the IRS (RTFTP) or a Letter 1722 issued by IRS

are missing/incomplete for the year(s): [x] 2011 [ ] 2010 [ ] 2009 [ ] 2008.

[x] You have not enclosed an explanation of why you were not required to file income taxes under Federal tax

laws for any/all of the 3 most recent tax years. (Residence outside of the U.S. or retirement does not exempt a

U.S. Citizen or LPR from filing a Federal tax return. Individuals who were required to file a Federal tax return but

failed to do so are advised to file late returns.)

Part 6 Sponsor's Income and Employment

[x] This part has not been appropriately completed.

[x] income indicated on the I-864 Part 25 does not correspond to the

amount shown on the most recent Federal tax return and W-2's.

Could be any day when they start the review! Just keep calling once a day to find out :)

And ah, I see. Yes, you're right, getting the packages there is (obviously) more important. Tracking is just a nice bonus (and gives piece of mind), but not necessary.

So, just to clarify, you sent NO tax information with the AOS package?

That's what the checklist is talking about, that you've not included any tax information (whether it's one year or three). All you need to do is send in the tax information, either the tax transcript(s) (which is highly preferred at NVC) or the entire tax return (1040, W2s, 1099s, schedules, worksheets, etc).

As for question 25, it's simple. Read the question again. If you filed a 1040, then use the amount from the "total income" line. If you filed a 1040EZ, use the amount from the "adjusted gross income" line. There's no adding up. Please re-read the question, it states this right on question 25.

I sent everything but forgot the actual tax transcript for 2011 and I don't have the 1040 so i ordered the transcript from IRS so just enter what is on the Income-adjusted gross income ? yes.gif ... thank you saylin good.gif

Okay, well, if you already have the 2011 tax transcript (and just forgot to include it), then that's all you need. Print out the AOS cover sheet from the payment portal and throw that on top and send it off.

Again, if you filed a 1040, then use the amount from the total income line. You only use the amount from the adjusted gross income if you filed the 1040EZ. Two different forms use two different amounts.

Finally, people hang out in a thread to communicate, ask questions, and get support. Why then, are we being advised to not do just that by another member?

This, one, I can answer. sld has a pattern of reporting back his queries from the NVC TeleOperators, and stating that he's doing exactly what the NVC TeleOperators have told him to do.

His queries smack of not reading post #1 or #2, LingChe in the wiki, or even the DoS Website about Immigrant Visas. Is it that he's not reading that stuff, or has decided to ignore what was written? Regardless, he's established a pattern of calling into NVC, getting advice from a NVC TeleOperator, and going forth with the advice the NVC TeleOperator has given him.

It's his established pattern, aye? You'd be cranky also, if'n someone decides to ignore all of the previously written stuff.

good.gif thanks saylin only thing is " And I am just making sure I understand you " i do not have the 1040 nor the 1040ez in my possession so i'm going by what my transcript has where it has adjusted income right ? or let me know if i'm dead wrong... and the transcript and cover letter is ready to go just trying to get this right ( so dont get frustrated with me saylin lol)

Un-Flipping-Believable!!!!!! So I found out my file was sitting in Philly when I called the ISO last week. NVC didn't receive the file today either, so I decided to call the USCIS again. Guess what? The file was shipped from Philly to NBC, but then shipped back to Philly!!! AAARGHHH!!!!! Give me a break!! The ISO was super kind and created a service request and gave me a reference number. She said allow up to March 9th for NVC to get the file. I hope its sooner. I can't believe this is how my tax dollars are being wasted. If NVC hasn't received your file, I highly suggest everyone call the USCIS and find out whether it's collecting dust in one of the local field offices.

good on ya for calling !

I absolutely hate this casefile shuffling bits.

Loathe....

Note I have written about it, and suggest folk do call in, getting an ISO, and finding the location for the physical casefile.
