NVC Filers - February 2013

UGH! I called the NVC today and they haven't received my case yet. So I called the USCIS to see if it's even been sent out yet and it HASN'T. It's still sitting on someone's desk. The ISO says it is in status "supervisory review". That really scared me and I asked if that meant there was something wrong! The ISO laughed and said nothing was wrong, some cases are reviewed by a supervisor, and he showed that the supervisor also approved the form (otherwise I would not have been sent the approval notice). But he did say that it could be another two whole weeks before the NVC even gets the file.

Anyone have any insight on this? Is the ISO telling me a straight story? :crying: Anyone? Please?

Just called myself. My file's in the same situation. I did send a email to NVCResearch to light a fire and have them request it from USCIS as well.

Now THAT is tremendously calming, to know someone else is in the same position... thank you x100. Is that the nvcresearch@state.gov e-mail? What did you say to them?

This is normal. It sucks, but it's normal.

Not all get the supervisory review. Since it's approved, note that the supervisor is actually checking up on the adjudicator and the adjudicator's work. Don't sweat, for now - except to keep asking them (the ISO) to ship the @#$@ casefile out to NVC.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thanks, Darnell. I'm really worried because we didn't send the supporting docs... just the basic stuff. I'm scared, what happens now? Is my case really approved? Is there any way I can find out more?

Jesus I'm having a panic attack...

FYI, I just called NVC and they confirmed that unemployment compensation is considered income since it is a taxable benefit.

Hope this helps other unfortunate unemployed souls like myself.

I am the petitioner.

hopefully someone can answer this quickly,

I am gathering my documents for the interview, having my hubby mail me all of the original documents, but I wanted to know whether or not I need to take a copy of the I-130 & G-325As to the interview?? we don't have a copy of anything as our attorney filed our papers, I assume they will provide it to us at some point. Does anybody know if I need to take a copy of the I-130 and G-325As?

Jesus I'm having a panic attack...

I just talked to another ISO and told her the whole story, including our lack of supporting documentation. She was very nice to me and she listened carefully and answered all my questions patiently. She said supervisory review at this stage does not mean anything is wrong. In fact if I received the official notice of approval in the mail, I am positively approved. As a routine thing the supervisor just needs to sign off on the file and get it packaged up to send out. She said if there are any questions about my file at this point they will be asked by the NVC.

I'm sorry to be so panicky. I just... god, just when I thought I was completely approved, and then this "review" thing, and I looked online for "supervisory review" and thought the worst. But those bad cases happen BEFORE the case is approved. I'm going to call my therapist...

You really will not need it (after all the case couldn't very well have arrived at that point without an approved I-130 and stuff!), but you should bring copies of everything just to have them, just to be prepared. Your lawyer can just fax or e-mail you copies of the I-130 and G325As if you are anxious. But you won't need them at the interview.

I should have said, "bring copies of everything, but bring the originals if you only supplied copies before."

Did they tell you that your files were in "supervisory review"?

No, the original I-130 petition isn't needed, but it'd still be a good idea to bring a copy, just in case. When I went to my interview, I brought a copy of EVERYTHING I had ever submitted for the visa process. Better to be safe than sorry!

Speedwell and Saylin thanks for the response...I e-mailed the assistant asking her to email me a copy of the I-130 and the G-325As, I will take a copy of everything to the interview.

At the USCIS stage they only submit I-130 and G-325As right?? anything else I'm missing?

Those are the only two forms, yes. But there's other documents: payment, passport photos, petitioner's proof of US citizenship, marriage certificate, divorce certificates (if applicable), evidence of the marriage.
