Hi, Persepolis. Cool nickname by the way, is it from that graphic novel? I love that thing.

You're in the wrong thread; this is actually for people who have got an approval on their I-130s already. There's another thread for you new Feb filers.

To answer your question here though, the current situation is kind of a mess. My approval took 111 days, approximately what yours did. I was dead average as far as I can see. Some people got approved in 30 days, some have been waiting several months, Don't panic; it's a bell curve. Cases filed after August 15 have mostly been transferred to local field offices to ease workload on the service centers. They will stop doing this soon, they say, but there is no set date. Some field offices are quick to approve, some are clueless and slow, at least one other (Atlanta) is actually refusing to process. Nothing like a bureaucracy! The Atlanta filers have a thread and they're being very vocal about it, can you blame them?

Sign up for your case updates as soon as you can (it might take a few weeks or more for the case number to appear at all) and call the USCIS for an update weekly; make sure you speak to a tier 2 rep (ISO) when you do because the first line reps can't tell you anything except that the case has been received.

Good luck!

Haha acutally no my username is not based on the graphic on novel. Persepolis was the capital of the Great Persian Empire and thus has significant historical meaning in Persian culture.

Thanks for answering my question, I have another. Who gets sent to the Atlanta office?

I live in Florida and I am worried now that I will be "transferred" to the Atlanta office due to close geographical proximity

Thanks Luisa. will try to call abt that time...better put in the alarm to wake up that early ... :clock:

If you've got a decent internet connection try Skype. I pay about $5 a month to get unlimited minutes to call any US phone line from my computer. You can subscribe for minutes for less money if you don't need unlimited minutes. It's very clear and very easy to use, I subscribed specifically for this process, international calling is toooo expensive!

We called USCIS multiple times when we were waiting for the NVC to receive our case and everytime I was asked whether or not I'd like someone to call me back, and I would ALWAYS insisit on holding. I suggest you call back and when they tell you that you have 3 choices; 1.hold the line 2.someone to call you back 3.email....always tell them that you'd like to hold the line, because they won't get back to you and even if they do it won't be for another 3-4 days

I actually did choose option 1. Then I was on hold for 40 minutes when someone answered the line. They introduced themselves, took my name, case number, phone number and told me the ISO are back logged and I will be contacted within 48 hours and hung up. I was about to go ballistic. That's why I didn't call back.

I don't think your local office is Atlanta. Find out here: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=LO

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

I have a couple questions. Maybe some of you can help.

We got noa2 a week ago. Yesterday we got an e-mail saying that our case was being sent to the Department of State. When should I start calling the NVC?

How long is it taking to get through NVC?

I asked for expedited service from USCIS and got NOA2 in 16 days. If I ask NVC for expiated service will they make our consulate interview earlier?

I suggest you start calling on Monday. It's taking a few weeks from NOA2 to getting a case number assigned.

As for an expedite, you'll have to request one at NVC. NVC will then send that request to your embassy/consulate and they're the ones to determine whether they approve it or not. Once they decide, they'll tell NVC, and then they'll tell you the outcome.

They ask you to send it to make sure you actually got approved. Then they look in the building if it's arrived already. It's kind of pointless in my opinion as the phone call can essentially do the same thing.

This is true. I just called the NVC and spoke to a rep who said I needed to wait "10... no, 15 to 20... well 15 days..." for my number.
