So what are they saying? How long they'll take to assign the case numbers? its been almost 2 weeks since NOA2 :(

They say it can take up to 30 calendar days. This is probably BS. On the other hand, they have been swamped lately, and had a snow day closure and a Federal holiday in the past two weeks. Many of them probably took Friday off too for the long weekend. It sucks for us but you have to think of it as being less time than it looks.

Jesus, chill out already. We're all in the same boat; my NOA2 was within a day or two of yours. I just think back on the waiting for the I-130 and thank the non-existent God that I don't have to go through THAT again. Don't put yourself through THAT again.

HAHA I know but I think to some extent the worry and impatience is natural. I'm just keeping my fingers cross and everytime I open my email with a new hope

Hey guys.

I am sending in my petition tomm. We already once got approved for I-129F fiance visa early 2012, but we decided to let the petition expire and get married in our native country. Now we are filing for I-130.

Anyway, I remember when I filed for I-129F K1 visa, we received our NOA2 in around 3.5 months. But now I am seeing both service centers are VERY BEHIND on I-130's IR-1/CR-1 almost 7 months in some cases!

However, I see members timelines who have filed on this forum and they are in the 100-150 day range for NOA2.

Can someone give me an updated estimate for NOA2? Is it really taking 6 months now a days? Or is that more from people not updating their timelines?

Hi, Persepolis. Cool nickname by the way, is it from that graphic novel? I love that thing.

You're in the wrong thread; this is actually for people who have got an approval on their I-130s already. There's another thread for you new Feb filers.

To answer your question here though, the current situation is kind of a mess. My approval took 111 days, approximately what yours did. I was dead average as far as I can see. Some people got approved in 30 days, some have been waiting several months, Don't panic; it's a bell curve. Cases filed after August 15 have mostly been transferred to local field offices to ease workload on the service centers. They will stop doing this soon, they say, but there is no set date. Some field offices are quick to approve, some are clueless and slow, at least one other (Atlanta) is actually refusing to process. Nothing like a bureaucracy! The Atlanta filers have a thread and they're being very vocal about it, can you blame them?

Sign up for your case updates as soon as you can (it might take a few weeks or more for the case number to appear at all) and call the USCIS for an update weekly; make sure you speak to a tier 2 rep (ISO) when you do because the first line reps can't tell you anything except that the case has been received.

Good luck!

I say this with the greatest imaginable good humor, but crapping in your pants is also natural. :) We learn to restrain our natural impulses, and this difficult time is a good example.

The best way to banish anxiety is to simply refuse to think anxious thoughts. I'm being treated for anxiety and this is my number one trick. When you notice an anxious thought coming, say to the thought, "Thank you for your input, now delete." Then immediately replace it with a positive thought.

For example, when you open your e-mail you may have a thought in the back of your mind, "What if we got a denial?" Not likely at this point anyway! Say the little saying, then think, "It will be so good when I can finally send this package off and know it's on its way." Visualize meeting your sweetie at the airport. :)

i have called the nvc and they told me that my case is at the building but didn't appear yet on the computer and i should call in a week to ask for my case number does this mean that they finally received my case i hope so :D wish luck to everyone :D

Yes, if it's in the building, then they received it from USCIS (or a local office). Keep calling every day (don't wait a week like they said) as the case number can be assigned any day now!
