I've been calling them politely and asking them, is my case showing up in the system yet? They take my USCIS number, check it, tell me it's not in the system, and rattle off their bit about waiting 10-15 days or whatever, I thank them, and call back the next day.

LATEST STEPS:

28 Jun 2013: POE Houston

08 Jul 2013: SSN received (at SSA office)

07 Aug 2013: Green Card received

27 Feb 2014: Whoa, life happened. Planning move "back home" together to Republic of Ireland by end of April.

29 Apr 2014: POE Dublin through Heathrow

15 May 2014: Received formal residency/work permission (GNIB card with Stamp 4, one year renewable) for the ROI

I (somehow) managed to wait two weeks after my NOA2 in the hopes that my first call to NVC would be successful, but they were able to tell me they'd received my case the week before and to call back next week. I listened - only to find out they'd assigned my numbers the day AFTER I called. <_< Be persistant! Call every day until you get it! ;)

Hi everyone,

While I wait for the case number to be assigned, I am trying to get the DS-230 completed. My apologies if some of these questions have already been answered but I could not find specific answers:

1) For some questions, there is not enough space. So is it okay to type most of the form on the computer but in cases where the answer does not fit, we just write it in black ink?

2) For Question no.30 (list all places you have lived for more than six months). It asks only for the city name not the full address - I am assuming that's okay to just give the city name? Also, the earliest address where my spouse was born could be written like "since birth" to "mm/yyyy"

3)In Part II, there is question, Question 44 - Were you assisted in completing this application? Is it okay to write my name (the petitioner) or is this something where we should just avoid adding any additional information?

USCIS (115 days)
10/05/12 – I-130 Sent (FedEx)

10/12/12 – NOA1

02/04/13 – Received NOA2 hardcopy

NVC (50 days)

03/01/13 – Received case number, Received IIN, gave email address
03/04/13 – DS-3032 emailed and mailed

1. Most definitely okay. I had to do this myself!

2. a. Yes, the first column is just for the city (no street address needed), the second column is for the province, and the the third is for country.

b. No, don't do "since birth" or put his birth date. You'll get a checklist. The question wants residences since the applicant was 16. So, if one has been living at the same address since birth, put the date he turned 16 in the "from" column. So, for example, if one is born in October 1988 (my birthday :D), then you would put October 2004.

3. That question is referring more to those with lawyers/attorneys or other legal representatives. Some petitioners put their information for that question, but it's really not needed.

Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: Iran
Timeline

Hey guys.

I am sending in my petition tomm. We already once got approved for I-129F fiance visa early 2012, but we decided to let the petition expire and get married in our native country. Now we are filing for I-130.

Anyway, I remember when I filed for I-129F K1 visa, we received our NOA2 in around 3.5 months. But now I am seeing both service centers are VERY BEHIND on I-130's IR-1/CR-1 almost 7 months in some cases!

However, I see members timelines who have filed on this forum and they are in the 100-150 day range for NOA2.

Can someone give me an updated estimate for NOA2? Is it really taking 6 months now a days? Or is that more from people not updating their timelines?

I've been calling them politely and asking them, is my case showing up in the system yet? They take my USCIS number, check it, tell me it's not in the system, and rattle off their bit about waiting 10-15 days or whatever, I thank them, and call back the next day.

So what are they saying? How long they'll take to assign the case numbers? its been almost 2 weeks since NOA2 :(
