So once the whole thing is done with AOS and IV sent, do they send an email saying that your case is complete and is being sent to the embassy? I asked the rep and she said they they only send the packet to the embassy when they hv the interview scheduled. Is this true? I just want to know what to expect now..

Thanks.

Typically, only those doing EP get case complete emails. Although, more and more non-EP cases have gotten case complete emails. Don't count on getting one, but if you do, consider yourself one of the few ;)

And yes, the operator spoke right that cases are only sent abroad AFTER an interview date has been assigned.

AOS Packet sent. What a worrisome time I had at Fed Ex before work tonight. Copied the whole packet. Total of 36 pages. Phew! I know some of you have bigger packets but I just didn't realize how big it was! Overnight Fed Ex, be there tomorrow afternoon, 37 big ones. Wow! Worth it to have it arrive on Friday, ready for inspection on Monday.

It's a holiday on Monday... President's Day. So they'll be closed.

Thank you

Another question is her passport bio page. once she gets it, she can copy it. BUT, it's her maiden name because she applied in July. Will that matter? She is planning on getting the name corrected, so she won't need to carry a copy of our marriage certificate.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure if the Philippines is different, but one doesn't HAVE to change their last name. All my documents are still in my maiden name and I'm not planning on changing to my married name anytime soon...

How about if some are your maiden name and some are in your married name? If you included in your I-130 application all of your previous names, should it be a problem?

No, I wouldn't think it would be a problem, as long as the changed name is to your married name. If you changed it something completely random, then it might become a problem then.

Before a medical and interview can be done, your case needs to be completed. You need to contact NVC and ask for status updates on how your case is doing. The case is complete once both packages have been accepted.

And NVC doesn't schedule a medical appointment. YOU need to do this. For the Philippines, you can do advance medicals. So instead of waiting until an interview date has been assigned, advance medicals can do them as soon as they get a letter from NVC with the case numbers.

Once your case is complete, it's put into queue for an interview date to be assigned. As long as you gave over both email addresses, then the interview letter will be emailed.

Saylin, this sounds interesting. I almost shouted out of joy to read your reply. How can my parents in the PHilippines do "advance medical"? What kind of letter do they get from NVC or how does it look like? Can you kindly shed me some light on this? What's the procedure please?

All they need to do is make an appointment with St Lukes and then show up with the appropriate documents.. Here's the website: http://www.slec.ph/

Saylin, one of the requirements is bring either appointment letter or instruction letter from NVC. So do we need to wait for the NVC instruction letter before my parents could go ahead with the "advanced medical"? If so, when do we receive or at what point do we receive the the instruction letter?

The instruction letter would be referring to the correspondence you first got from NVC that contains the case numbers.
