We are sending out our AOS package tomorrow and have been obsessing over whether or not I've included everything I needed to. Thanks to Saylin, whose info has been invaluable, I think we're good. So now I am obsessing over our IV package, though we haven't even had our DS-3032 accepted yet (sent it Monday). As I'm reviewing the necessary documents for the IV (over and over and OVER again), I keep coming back to the same question: should I include a certified copy of MY divorce decree, just to be on the safe side? I am the USC and was married once before I met my husband. He has never been married before. I'm just way overthinking things (as I tend to do), and am terrified that we are going to get an RFE for it. I'd love to have case closed by the beginning of March and would LOVE an April interview! Thanks in advance for the input!

USCitizen divorce decree requirements:

1. photocopy showing seal or stamp submitted with I-130

2. certified copy showing seal or stamp on interview day at the IV unit, beneficiary/visa chaser hand carries this in, gives over to IV staff.

so, yer asking whether it's required with the DS-230 ? No. it's not.

is it a good idea to send it in? Maybe.. (that's just my opinion though, as yer using NVC to IV unit internal shipping to get the document to the IV unit. Caveat -if the IV unit asks the beneficiary for it on interview day, beneficiary must ask the IV staff to pull it out of the casefile they have behind the window)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

my attorney's assistant finally sent me the two packages she sent to the NVC, and I noticed she only included my hubby's 2011 tax return stuff (so tax return + W2) do you think we will get a checklist for not including 2010 and 2009? I don't know why they only sent in one years tax return

Tell her she needs to submit another email, with the AOS coversheet scanned and TY 2010 and 2009 stuff.

What a maroon !

I've paid both AOS fee and IV fee, I've got AOS package ready to send. Do I need to wait for AOS reply before sending IV package? Can I send IV right after AOS?

AOS and IV are seperate doc intake tracks. They are designed to run seperately. Many times they can run in parallel, as that's the time and timing that you can control with NVC.

Well, my husband said and I agree that one year (most recent) tax return is enough. Earlier years are optional. And also pay stub the most recent one is good enough. Employment letter is not necessary, it's an alternative to pay stub. And I've read I-864 instruction, government website's checklist for I-864, to make sure I was right.

Guangzhou IV wants to see 3 years of tax data.

Darnell is that a requirement or preference? because based on the other two posts the most recent one is ok! but if it's not then I guess I would have to call her

You either send the most recent one or you send the most three. So don't worry!

so you don't think they will send me a checklist for this? I hope not...I am tired of running after them :bonk:

No, sending all three years is optional. I'd still recommend bringing the other two years with you to the interview in case they request it. Embassies/consulates have their own rules with certain things.

So once the whole thing is done with AOS and IV sent, do they send an email saying that your case is complete and is being sent to the embassy? I asked the rep and she said they they only send the packet to the embassy when they hv the interview scheduled. Is this true? I just want to know what to expect now..

Thanks.

Hi friends, a very stupid question: Do I really need to send police certificate in IV package? (This one takes some time to do) I wonder why the NVC doesn't send a clear checklist for us.

yup, you need police clearance for the IV. Don't forget the GUZ IV P3 Supplemental, as well.

I think you missed a link or two from the first 2 posts, covering what's required for the DS-230.

Are you using a PC? Handphones suck for VJ usage - you miss out on 80 percent of the functionality of the site
