I think it's best to have your mother as a joint sponsor if you don't want to risk getting a checklist, yes you are making enough on your own now but that might not be sufficient enough for them as you didn't make above the guidelines in the previous years. Does your mother claim you as a dependent on her tax return?

No she does not claim me.

Yes I read your reply yesterday, I was wondering about the agents on the phone. the two emails you've copy pasted here are the exact ones my attorney received. but she only forwarded ONE email acknowledging they've received the correspondence, either she didn't get that email for the second package or she totally ignored my inquiries when I asked about it. I only asked because when you call they say that nope we haven't received anything and so I paniced, but as per saylin's reply, the agents see the packages only after they review has started!

how long after sending your packages they started reviewing them? do you know?

If you look at my signature you can get a sense of timing. For us, each item was dealt with in about 3-5 days. If you labelled the email subject according to the item that was being sent you should be able to tell which package they're responding to. Mine was always "Re:" whatever it was I sent so "Re: MTL########## - DS-261 Supporting Docs" or "Re: MTL########## AOS"

My items were each dealt with rather quickly. Mine was slower than the kids' because of my IV invoice not being generated right away like theirs were and then the other hiccup was when someone couldn't read the scanned I-864 for my one son and see that it matched the tax return. This also proved that the same person is not dealing with each part of the case.

I've paid AOS and IV fee. Now need to work on these packages!

Saylin, are you 24 hours(or at least 12 hours) online answering questions? NVC should pay you for that. You're way better than their agents!

Grats on the progress! kicking.gif

And laughing.giflaughing.gif Besides when I'm at work and sleeping, I always have one tab open with my email and another tab with the current month's NVC thread. As soon as I see someone posted, I refresh the thread's page ;) And I wish NVC would pay me!! rofl.gifrofl.gif

Hi Saylin and Co'.

Today I am going to snail mail the Affidavit of Support and the Application for Immigrant Visa packages.

I am the Intending Immigrant, my husband is the USC and has been residing here in Perth, Western Australia for the past 27 years.

We have a joint sponsor.

We have just accepted an offer for the sale of our home and will be leaving this house before end of March. We want to ensure we dont get any RFE's (or we will be sleeping on my sister lounge room floor for longer than we may wish to)

I filled out the forms some time ago and was confident of my answers as I had used other VJ journeyer's where the OP siuation mirrored our own. In re-looking at the questions I have doubts. Today I cant find the threads in question.

Saylin would you be so kind as to double check my list for me? I have indicated my concerns.

Thanks in advance - Gab

Affidavit of Support documents:

Sponsors I-864 Cover Letter

Bar Coded Document Cover Sheet

Sponsors I-864

CONCERN - part6. Sponsors Income and Employment

22. I am currently:

a. employed as an XXXX

Name of Employer XXXXXXX

(please note my husband is currently working - he has had the same employer for past 25 years)

23 My current individual current income is:

$0.00 (We put zero as this income will not continue in the states)

24. My current annual houshold income:

a. List your income from line 23 of this form:

$0.00 (We put zero as this income will not continue in the states)

c. Total Houshold income:

$0.00 (We put zero as this income will not continue in the states)

25 Federal income tax return information - put in figures from IRS tax transcript 2009, 2010, 2011.

ETCETERA

Contry of Domicile letter with attachments:

copy of hous sale documents

copy of international removalist quotation

Board Share Agreement (between sponsor and co sponsor)

US school enrolment document for our daughter

Sponsors IRS tax return transcripts 2009, 2010, 2011

Joint Sponsors I-864

Joint Sponsors USC Birth Certificate

Joint Sponsors IRS tax return transcripts 2009, 2010, 2011

Joint Sponsors Employment Letter

Immigrant Visa packages documents:

Sponsors IV Cover Letter

Bar Coded Document Cover Sheet

DS-230 (part 1 signed by beneficiary, part 2 unsigned)

2 US Passport style photos of beneficiary (name, date of birh and case number on back of each)

Continuation Sheet in support of DS230 Biographic Data for Beneficiary

Photocopy of the Biographic Data Page of Beneficiary's Passport

Certified Birth Certificate of beneficiary and a copy

Certified Marriage Certificate and a copy

Police Certificate for Beneficiary and a copy

For the AOS, I know it states somewhere that if your income isn't continuing once immigrated, to not include it, but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be written as $0 or the actual amount and then simply a joint sponsor is needed. You may want to call NVC up and ask about this. Still open for one more hour!

For both packages though, make sure the bar-coded cover sheet is the FIRST page. The cover letter should be second. The reason is because NVC scans your packages, don't make their job harder :P

For the IV package, put the DS-230 continuation sheet after the DS-230. Don't separate the two documents with passport pictures.

Besides that, looks good good.gif

Just a quick question. We download the DS-230 from the State Department's website right?

http://travel.state..../info_3194.html

This is the link I found through a search which seems to have the latest DS-230.

Yes, always download from the government's site yes.gif They'll always have the most up to date form.

Hold up stop the madness. YOU Saylin don't know. hehe. Back at ya :P

rofl.gifrofl.gifrofl.gif I don't know EVERYTHING :P Especially stuff that I didn't have to deal with (spouse with children, assets, divorces, etc etc).

I recently got a job promotion with the agency I have been working for for almost 7 years and I make enough NOW as of last month to qualify to sponsor my husband on my own. Do I still need a joint sponsor?

My mom will be a joint sponsor if I need her to. She lives with me so which is the better choice? Joint sponsor or household member?

FYI - She has enough income to sponsor my husband on her own with out combining income with me.

Anybody got some advise for me???

Being from a MENA country, it's probably much better to stay on the safer side and have your mom be a joint sponsor. The more income, the better. You would both fill out I-864s.

I have another quick question for everyone around who have filled the DS-230 form. I tried to fill out all the information and save it so I can send it electronically to my wife and then she can fill up any remaining fields, print it out, sign it and send it back to me by mail.

But I am not able to save the file. Plus my wife does not have a printer so she will need to save it anyways.

Is there any way around this - to fill it out and save it?

Called 4x today.

the 3rd person I spoke too, said there is no chance that my wife will be here in March. They have scheduled all the appointments.crying.gif

5 minutes ago, with no hold time. I spoke to a great guy, and he said to call again tomorrow if not Friday, and I should have my number, and I need to rush everything I do, and he said she could still be here in March.

If I get a busy signal, I just hang up and call again. Usually goes right through.

You may want to call NVC up and ask about this. Still open for one more hour!

I'm working on the AOS too and had the same question.

I read the instructions and, for the USC, it just indicates to put the current salary.

For the beneficiary though, it says to report the current income only if you can maintain it after moving to the US.

So, even though both of us will lose our income, I'm going to write it exactly how NVC asks for it : salary for my husband and nothing for me.

I think a remember another post with the same idea.

I know how stressful / frustrating / saddening / "roller-coastery" the immigration process can sometimes be, but let's remember that, despite everything, we're lucky to have found a love for which we're willing to cross countries and continents.

Is there any way around this - to fill it out and save it?

Download a program called Foxit Reader, it will allow you to fill it out and save the form. I use it for all the annoying forms that you can't save the information and come back to it.

Question regarding employment verification. My employer told me that in order to get verification, I have to go on a website they have available. I went and requested the verification and got it immediately. However, it is digitally signed and won't be on company letter head. The HR spokesman said they only manually sign for I-821 I-817 and N-470. Since this is for the I-864, they can't sign it per company policy. Does anyone else have a similar situation? Will digital signature suffice employment verification and not on company letterhead.

AOS fee came out of my bank account but is still showing "IN PROCESS". Safe to mail the AOS packet tomorrow, yes?

Once the fee has definitively come out of your bank account (and your account is in good standing), it is definitely safe to mail the AOS packet. By the time it arrives at the NVC the status will have turned to PAID.

I'd see if your company can give you a copy of the policy to include in the packet.
