Hi Saylin and Co'.

Today I am going to snail mail the Affidavit of Support and the Application for Immigrant Visa packages.

I am the Intending Immigrant, my husband is the USC and has been residing here in Perth, Western Australia for the past 27 years.

We have a joint sponsor.

We have just accepted an offer for the sale of our home and will be leaving this house before end of March. We want to ensure we dont get any RFE's (or we will be sleeping on my sister lounge room floor for longer than we may wish to)

I filled out the forms some time ago and was confident of my answers as I had used other VJ journeyer's where the OP siuation mirrored our own. In re-looking at the questions I have doubts. Today I cant find the threads in question.

Saylin would you be so kind as to double check my list for me? I have indicated my concerns.

Thanks in advance - Gab

There's a reason why I didn't reply the first time: I don't know :P

For SSI though, as the I stands for Income, I would assume that you could use SSI as income. You'd need to provide proof of it though.

You can only give the email addresses AFTER a case number has been assigned. Please go back and re-read the first two posts ;)

Thank You Saylin - you are right - first thing is to get the case number

I recently got a job promotion with the agency I have been working for for almost 7 years and I make enough NOW as of last month to qualify to sponsor my husband on my own. Do I still need a joint sponsor?

My mom will be a joint sponsor if I need her to. She lives with me so which is the better choice? Joint sponsor or household member?

FYI - She has enough income to sponsor my husband on her own with out combining income with me.

Anybody got some advise for me???

Hamigirl, to my understanding...since you are petitioning for your husband you require to be the primary sponsor, so you would have to fill out the I-864 regardless, whether or not you qualify on your own, that's something I don't know...you just got promoted and so you can probably show your recent pay stubs and a letter from employment, I'm sure other members can give you better advice...our attorney told us that they mostly look at CURRENT income

Yes that I know of course. But do you think it is a risk of getting denied or a RFE if I try to file without the co sponsor?

I was told to put your income anyway, as it is on your US tax return. If it is earned overseas the NVC will see it can't be used and ignore it, but it should still match your tax return, even if it can't be counted.

Woohoo! Congrats. How was it? Since I will be going to that same place soon :)

I also wanted to ask you, since you did EP for Canada recently. Did NVC tell you they've "received" your emails but haven't reviewed them? I want to know if they will log it into their system and then have it reviewed or you won't even find out about it until ur case is complete? Because I called and they said they haven't received anything, so this means it's not in their system? Or what? I'm confused a bit

I wrote a bit about it in the Canada forum since I don't think everyone here needs to hear about a place only us Canucks will go.

As far as notices, I did touch on this in my reply to your post last night.

I received an automated email each time I submitted something which looked like this:

Dear Sir/Madam:

Thank you for your recent inquiry to the National Visa Center (NVC). This e-mail is an auto response. Please do not respond.

We review and reply to e-mails in the order they are received.

I never received anything to say that the items had been ACCEPTED as in good enough to move forward. I got false and real checklists (the false checklists about the photos pretty much let me know the case was complete) and then we got an email saying they had received all the necessary documents. And finally the email with the interview date.

Yes that I know of course. But do you think it is a risk of getting denied or a RFE if I try to file without the co sponsor?

I think it's best to have your mother as a joint sponsor if you don't want to risk getting a checklist, yes you are making enough on your own now but that might not be sufficient enough for them as you didn't make above the guidelines in the previous years. Does your mother claim you as a dependent on her tax return?

Do not let more than one year pass without contacting the NVC concerning this visa petition. If a period of one year passes from the last date of contact (by telephone, mail, or e-mail) with the NVC, all submitted fees and documents expire. If this occurs, the fees must be paid again and documents must be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process.

As this case is processing electronically, all forms and documents must be sent via email as scanned attachments to NVCElectronic@state.gov . Sending physical documents to the NVC will delay the processing of your case.

I never received anything to say that the items had been ACCEPTED as in good enough to move forward. I got false and real checklists (the false checklists about the photos pretty much let me know the case was complete) and then we got an email saying they had received all the necessary documents. And finally the email with the interview date.

Yes I read your reply yesterday, I was wondering about the agents on the phone. the two emails you've copy pasted here are the exact ones my attorney received. but she only forwarded ONE email acknowledging they've received the correspondence, either she didn't get that email for the second package or she totally ignored my inquiries when I asked about it. I only asked because when you call they say that nope we haven't received anything and so I paniced, but as per saylin's reply, the agents see the packages only after they review has started!

how long after sending your packages they started reviewing them? do you know?
