My parents are naturalized citizens..so isn't their US passports good enough to prove their citizenship status??? or do i have to include their Naturalization Certificates??? But it is strictly stated on the Naturalization Certificates that it is punishable & illegal to take copies of that certificate....so is there any other option??

Quick question guys -

I'm getting together my proof of domicile evidence (what a pain in the butt!). I have a bank statement from my account in the States, a lease from my Dad proving we'll be renting from him, three different quotes from shipping companies, and a few emails from a community college at home about registering for fall classes. My question: I also have a few emails from FAFSA about federal student aid, confirmation of my enrollment, and info on possible grants/scholarships I could apply for. Should I include that, too? If looking into going to college in the States is good proof, I guess looking into grants/scholarships/student aid would be good proof, too, right?

I included all my school app stuff, so I say yes!

We're all having nicer conversations with them now! This is good! My case has been at NVC for 16 days now, so I'm starting to believe this 20 day stuff.

NVC received our cases in the same day! I called today and I was told that I need to wait 20 days ( not to include weekends , holidays and snow days lol)..so, I believe it is going to be around 02/26/2013.

hi! i would like to ask if how did u use Skype to call nvc? is it for free? thanks!

No, it's not free, because NVC isn't a 1800 number like USCIS. You have to either buy a plan or pay for minutes.

ohhh... okay thank u! i guess i have to use magic jack instead. thank u again! :)

For those that have a gmail account (which is many), there is an option on the gmail site where you can place outgoing calls to Canada and US for free but I think that may only apply to those within North America, hopefully I'm wrong. It's called Google Voice. I've been using that to call NVC and have waited for over 30 min every time and did not pay a cent.

Just make sure you have a wired headset with a mic and headphone connected to your computer. I've used my iPhone headphones with my MacBook and PC Netbook with no problems.

Hope that helps!

I'm overseas and using Skype, got a subscription specifically for this! It's only about $6 a month for unlimited minutes to any US phone. I found that it's the clearest option out there. Everything else I've tried has always had bad call quality.

Yeah, I have to agree. My internet down here is ridiculously slow and unreliable, and even so the quality is pretty good. I never have any problem understanding what they're saying, or with the calls being dropped.

Ok I NOW as of Jan 22nd have a position with enough income to sponsor my hubby I have been working for the same government agency for almost 7 years but recently got a promotion that finally puts me about the 125% guidelines. But it has been such a short time that I got the promotion so this might now look good. My mom lives with me and she will help me sponsor. Should I use her as a co aponsor or a household member? She alone makes enough to sponsor my hubby without my income. I am a bit confused

Hi

yours and mine have about the same timeframe like having the case# assigned and when the ds3032 was sent to NVC. Have you gotten the IV invoiced yet?

thanks

This is EXACTLY how I called NVC and DOS every single day for my visa process :) And even if it's a North America specific thing, there's a work around no matter where you live. Look into proxies ;)

And I actually still use Google Voice, albeit on my phone not my computer, to make calls to Canada to talk with my family :) It's a wondrous thing laughing.gif

Maybe by the end of the day today or tomorrow your IV invoice will appear. If you want to make sure, call the NVC.

When I called and asked, they gave me the usual speech about 10-15 working days, but my IV invoice was issued later the same day.

Let me ask again. Help Saylin.

SSI benefits can be used right for income consideration?

Also using property long as its not primary now here's where my math is off.

You calculate how much you are short say your income is off $5000 you times by 3 so you need property appraised at least $15000?

And this is for a co-sponsor and joint-sponsor?

I was able to call and get in touch with someone today. A lady picked up (she was kind of rude) and she said that the case has arrived at the NVC and it is being entered into the computer and that NVC will get in touch with the beneficiary and the petitioner in 2 to 4 weeks.

I asked her if I can give her my email address so that they can contact me (petitioner) directly but she was very abrupt and said that she does not have any access to the information and IF I had provided an email address in my application then NVC will contact that email address.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Should I first get the case number and only then provide them with the email addresses?

There's a reason why I didn't reply the first time: I don't know :P

For SSI though, as the I stands for Income, I would assume that you could use SSI as income. You'd need to provide proof of it though.

You can only give the email addresses AFTER a case number has been assigned. Please go back and re-read the first two posts ;)
