We're all having nicer conversations with them now! This is good! My case has been at NVC for 16 days now, so I'm starting to believe this 20 day stuff.

SSI benefits can be used right for income consideration?

Also using property long as its not primary now here's where my math is off.

You calculate how much you are short say your income is off $5000 you times by 3 so you need property appraised at least $15000?

And this is for a co-sponsor and joint-sponsor?

See people shouldn't call me before I am awake and haven't had my coffee. ;)

Good morning peeps!

Don't forget to include your birth certificate showing the relationship between you and your mother and father (so, long form birth certificate showing parents' names). Your mother will also need to include proof of US citizenship/residency. If your father is contributing income, he'll need to include his proof of US citizenship/residency as well, along with his employment letter/pay stubs.

Does it have to be original birth certificate or can USC just send a copy to prove relationship?

While talking on skype, my husband called Nvc, and 31 minutes later a nice lady picked up the phone and he asked about DS-261status, and it‘s not accepted yet...she said from 5 to 10 business days. We got email this morning, AOS was received and please wait up to 20 business days for review.

Does it really take 20 business days?

I guess by now there is nothing else we can do but waiting...

Cant waot to get invoiced for IV Fee! (Lol can‘t believe that I am anxious to pay $230!)

hi! i would like to ask if how did u use Skype to call nvc? is it for free? thanks!

No, it's not free, because NVC isn't a 1800 number like USCIS. You have to either buy a plan or pay for minutes.

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.

Is that really required to show that we're related? Isn't anyone allowed to be joint sponsor?

I'm not sure if it's required per se, but I still recommend it. You might also want to include your mother and father's marriage certificate.

By what point to you have to have been married for two years? At the rate things are going, my husband and I will probably reach the two year mark before we get to the States (our anniversary is May 4th). Or did we have to have reached that point before applying for an I130? Just checking - 600$ is a lot of money after already spending a couple grand on this process.

The latest possible to get an IR-1 visa is when you cross the border and immigrate to the US. If it's after the 2 year anniversary, then point it out to the border officer (have your marriage certificate handy) and inform them that you should be stamped as an IR-1 instead of the CR-1. It'd be better to be married for more than 2 years before the interview though as some POE officers have no idea what they're doing headbonk.gif

my parents are also cosponsoring with me....so to show the relationship do i include my original bc or is photocopy alright?

Originals are not needed for the proof of US citizenship/residency NOR the birth/marriage certificates to show relationships. They can all be photocopies. It's just the beneficiary's documents in the IV package that have to be originals/certified copies.

Does it have to be original birth certificate or can USC just send a copy to prove relationship?

See answer above.

Quick question guys -

I'm getting together my proof of domicile evidence (what a pain in the butt!). I have a bank statement from my account in the States, a lease from my Dad proving we'll be renting from him, three different quotes from shipping companies, and a few emails from a community college at home about registering for fall classes. My question: I also have a few emails from FAFSA about federal student aid, confirmation of my enrollment, and info on possible grants/scholarships I could apply for. Should I include that, too? If looking into going to college in the States is good proof, I guess looking into grants/scholarships/student aid would be good proof, too, right?
