another question, am i going to attached our tax 2009, 2010 & 2011 on both I-864 forms since we filed our tax jointly or just my husband?

I think this is one of the rare cases where you'd use I-864A since you and your husband live in the same house and are on the same taxes...

NVC is kind of fast! 2 weeks to approve my choice of agent email (ok I guess) but then only 1 day to invoice for IV! Never been so happy to receive a $230 bill!

We won't be able to send the AOS as soon as expected, as we're still waiting for some documents, too long to explain but

Packet IV will be ready soon though, and I wonder if I should go ahead and send it. As NVC would still be waiting for the OAS though, would it make any difference at all? (compared to sending everything together later)

THe AOS and IV packets are separate. They don't need to have AOS first before accepting the IV.

Go ahead and get IV out of the way. They'll process it while you wait to send the AOS

If you look in the first post of this thread, you'll see a format for sending the DS3032. Did you give NVC both your email address and your spouse's? Then no, don't wait, send it as soon as you get your numbers. Just fill in the inform as indicated in the first post. If you haven't handed over your email addresses yet, you have to do that first.

Hey,

So we just got our I-130 approved and despite months of reading and researching I'm finding myself in a tizzy about what happens next!

Will the NVC notify us when our case arrives there and when our NVC case number will be ready? Or should we be calling them to find out if our case has arrived (If so, where do I find the number we call and what do we say? - I believe we also need to ask for another number and give them both of our email addresses?)

From then on will hubby and I be contacted by email telling us our next step?

Sorry, I've just gone into panic mode after months of sitting twiddling my thumbs and now having stuff to do! Eeek!

Oh, damn, I hadn't thought of that. The east coast is getting pounded with snow right about now. If there is a delay, I hope it won't be too long!

If you don't call at all, you'll receive a letter in the mail with your case numbers from NVC. Expect to receive it about a month after your case numbers have actually been assigned. Any postal mail correspondence will take weeks to receive. Even longer when they have to mail abroad.

Calling them is definitely preferred if you don't want to wait months for correspondence. The number for NVC is on the first post. Just call and ask for the case number. You'll also need the IIN (Invoice Identification Number), but that's only assigned after the case number. And yes, by giving both email addresses over once a case number has been assigned, you'll receive correspondence from NVC by email, which only takes a few days to receive, compared to a few weeks by postal mail.

I HIGHLY suggest you read the first two posts (as it's clear you haven't). Re-read them over and over again. Everything you've asked could be answered within those first two posts. Time for some reading!!

That's why it's soooooooo important to give email addresses to NVC so they can email you correspondence. It shaves months off the process.
