WOOHOOO! I got a checklist today! That means they've started reviewing our case and everything made it!!!

How can I tell if it's a false checklist or not?

It says it's waiting for the IV app and has a barcode attached... I sent them at the same time so does that just mean they haven't started on the IV app packet yet?

either way.... SO happy to have some form of contact from the NVC!

I'm assuming they reviewed (and accepted) your AOS package! Call up NVC asap to confirm this!!

Just label it as 'Additional Proof of Relationship Evidence' yes.gif

I'd say go with the embassy which has less of a backlog, thus faster interview date. You might also want to consider which one's easier to go through.

If you do need to change the embassy, you should call up NVC and ask about that asap. I'm thinking you'll need to change it right away.

That's the whole point Saylin - that's what I am so confused about. How do I find out which embassy has less of a backlog. Most Iranians choose Abu Dhabi or Ankara and so I also chose that (in fact my lawyer for I-130 chose it). But most Iranians are not in the position I am in where my wife is living in New Delhi for the past 7 years.

I actually don't know if I should choose Abu Dhabi, Ankara, Naples or Frankfurt (the choices available to Iranian) or ask for the case to be transferred to New Delhi (which technically does not accept normal Iranian cases but I could make the case that since wife is living in New Delhi it would be good for us and see what they say).

Bottom line is I have no idea which consulate is faster and the VJ timelines don't help much because very few of them are Iranians

You'll need to do your own research starting here: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?cfl=0&op1=3&op2=d&op3=5&op4=1&op5=5,6,8,10,11,13,14,15,16,17,18,20,21,22,25,26,27,28,108,110,111,208,210,211&op6=All&op7=All&dfile=No&adv= Choose each country from the drop-down list at the bottom and look at the recent timelines for those embassies. Write out the average time frames for each place and go from there.

I see that many people put their choice of consulate on the I-130 form even though the question doesn't actually relate to them. The question ( part c question 22) actually is talking about someone is living in the United States who will be filing for visa abroad.

I got mixed answers about what you should put and so I left it blank. In the case of Iranians it makes sense since they don't have access to embassy/consulate in native country.

However, from what I have read it seems the NVC chooses the consulate even if you write which one you "prefer". For example if you write Ankara it might still give you Abu Dhabi. I think this is based on availability of interviews that is why it is done this way.

Are you sure Iranians can file at New Dheli for immigrant visas? It says online the places Iranians can file our Ankara, Abu Dhabi, Naples, Vienna, Frankfurt

http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9217.com

Floyd I have a question since your wife is Iranian for the NVC stage IV packet, what did you do for the birth certificate/schenasname? Did you actually send in the original or did you send in a certified copy or what? I am confused about what I should do.

I didn't know that you can leave the consulate blank.

Iranians cannot file from any other consulate other than the ones listed above but I thought I would give it shot to ask them to have the interview done in New Delhi.

Actually if I can somehow find out which consulate is the fastest, I don't mind Naples, Vienna or Frankfurt - most Iranian applicants I know don't choose those consulates because they are worried about getting a schengen visa but my wife has traveled to Europe three times in the past two yeas (we have meeting in Europe as a mid point) so I could choose one of them too.

About your shenashname, I don't think it is a big deal. In fact my wife actually lost hers a few years back and was able to get it again in a month but of course you don't want to think of that but I think it's safe to send courier service - my wife recommends DHL which seems to be the best in Iran.

By the way - are you Iranian or just your wife?

Hello everyone! Case approved at USCIS and waiting on an NVC case number! Looks like this is the most confusing part of the IR1/CR1 Journey! Best of luck to everyone! smile.gif

I do have a question, does the "automated NVC system" no longer work? I can only speak to a person during their hours, otherwise nothing, no option for a case status, contrary to the wiki articles here on VJ. headbonk.gif

DHL refuses to send original shenasnameh since its such an important document and they don't want to be liable for it. That's what my wife told me.

Either way my wife needs her shenasnameh for things such as withdrawing from a bank account and other things that may come up. So she cannot just send the original. I am going to have her ask the issuing place for a certified copy or something.

Both me and my wife are Persian.

The AVR was taken down about a year ago, unfortunately. So, you can only talk with an operator now when you call the number.

Yes, definitely call back and speak with someone else. Make sure you get that IIN and give over both email addresses.
