How much time they will take to give interview date?

This varies by consulate/embassy. You need to do your own research for this time tick. Start here: http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?cfl=0&op1=3&op2=d&op3=5&op4=1&op5=5,6,8,10,11,13,14,15,16,17,18,20,21,22,25,26,27,28,108,110,111,208,210,211&op6=All&op7=India&dfile=No&adv= Make sure you weed out those not going to the same embassy, as I know there's a few for India.

understood and thank for the tip about the POE!

so you know of some cases of people with a US visa that where denied entry to the US for not having the necessary documents to prove a clean record?

.

It doesn't have anything to do with a clean record. The POE has the ultimate power to let you in or not, whether you have a visa or not.

Despite the above, I've only ever seen ONE case of someone being denied entry into the US with their visa in the passport. It was a K1 applicant from Canada. If I remember correctly, he had a criminal past, he had disclosed everything at each step, but once he got to the POE, the officers claimed he hadn't told anyone about his past, and they denied him entrance. He then got married, and went through the CR-1 process. Last I checked, he had a spousal interview and was put into AP.

Could you please add me into your spreadsheet?

Also, if I don’t get our case numbers before Friday would we then become Mar NVC applicants?

This process has me second guessing myself constantly...

Added! :) Sorry for not having you on there earlier. I've got so much other stuff going on, I can't possibly remember who I've added or not blush.gif

And every month, EVERYONE goes on over to the new NVC monthly thread. You don't stay in the same month that you arrived at NVC. It's a lot easier that way as you'll see everyone's progress and can help each other out, no matter where in the NVC process you are! :)

Are you going to be signing up for EP?

I thought we had to being that we go through Montréal? Either way, that was the plan. :) The faster the better.

I am hoping we don’t have any scheduling difficulties for the Consulate as we have to interview around my daughters Grad Gala (3 May), her provincial exams(12,17&25 Jun), her convocation (27 Jun) and Grad trip (dates TBC but most likely first week of Jul).

As if THIS process wasn’t already bad enough!

EP is still optional for Canadians. It's just the online forms that are required for Canadians.

Well, if the interview date happens to be scheduled on one of those dates, you can always reschedule the interview. Or, depending what time those events are at, do the interview in the morning still. If you're one of the first ones there, you're out by ~9am.

Hey guys, I just got my NOA1. But I am gathering the documents needed for NVC stage.

My question pertains to the IV packet.

It is asking for the original marriage certificate which is not a problem. However it is asking for the original/certified copy of birth certificate which is a problem.

See in Iran, the birth certificate (shenasnameh) is a critical piece of identification that is used in all aspects of verifying identification in life (getting a loan, buying a house, car, passport, etc.) it is very important and very hard to get another one if you lose it. Furthermore, it is not possible to send the "original" schenasmeh due to this importance. More over, my wife will need it for buying a ticket, leaving the country, etc.!

Also DHL in Iran refuses to send original shenasnameh or cart-e-meli (national identification card) by courier service because it is such an important original document.

I have tried googling online with no answers. I am not even sure if the government issues "certified copies" of either documents

I am wondering if any fellow iranians here can tell me what they did for this process or if anyone has an idea what I am supposed to do.

Everyone,

I am preparing cover letter with AOS package. I was hoping you guys can look over and see if it makes sense. To give a bit of background, my husband has file petition for my mother and so him and I are sponsoring his mother. My husband sometimes do side-jobs when gets it but it's not regular and predictable income. Plus, we've not yet filed 2012 taxes. So I plan to provide following explanation in the cover letter and send the list below it as part of AOS package. Just a side note, our current income is more than twice required for household member of 3 so I am not so worried about being on borderline of income requirement. Just want to make sure the stuff below makes sense to someone else reading it.

Can you guys please please "pretty please" provide feedback???

My wife and I have not filed taxes for year 2012 yet. Therefore, I’ve included our 2012 W2s and 1099s. If requested, my mother can bring a copy of our 2012 tax returns to the US Embassy at the time of interview. Also, as part of current annual individual income, I have not included any income from self-employment as it is a side job that is based on availability of the work. However, my current annual individual income listed on form I-864 is my regular, steady, and main source of income from my employer <HisCompanyName> since 2010. Additionally, my wife’s most recent pay stub includes reward amount which is not guaranteed every year. Therefore, we’ve not included any reward income in her current annual individual income amount on forms I-864 and I-864A. Our current annual income only includes regular income from my employer <HisCompanyName> and my wife’s employer <HerCompanyName>.

You should check out Iran's reciprocity table: http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9217#docs It states the birth certificate is unavailable, so in your case, it won't be needed. I highly suggest printing out the above page and highlighting the birth certificate portion. Include it in the IV package. Also write a paragraph on your cover letter explaining the birth certificate issue. You shouldn't have any problems then.

Saylin,

On the day of your interview, does Montreal consulate require to see the past 3 years of taxes or just the most recent one? (the one submitted to the NVC). We only submitted the most recent year

I had brought all 3 past years (2008, 2009, 2010) which we had submitted to NVC, plus the current year (2011) that we had just filed two months prior (which weren't sent to NVC at the time as my husband filed taxes after we sent the AOS package). If I remember correctly, they handed back the previous years and just kept a copy of 2011's tax transcript. But, being that my interview was nearly 2 years ago now, I'm not completely sure laughing.gif

You should still have a copy of the previous years with you, if possible, in case they do request it. Remember, it's better to be slightly over-prepared than slightly under-prepared. Would you really want to be put into AP for a few weeks just because you didn't bring tax information? ;)

You read it wrong, check below under "Identity certificates".

"Birth Certificates

Unavailable.

Identity certificates (Shenasnameh)

Available. Identity certificates (Shenasnameh) showing the date and place of birth, parents' names, place of residence, and marital history where appropriate, are issued to Iranian nationals in urban centers by the Department of National Registration and Statistics (Edareh Sabt Ahval va Omar) and in rural regions by district (Bakhsh) offices of the Department. These are accepted by the Embassy in lieu of birth certificates for visa purposes. Information contained in these certificates must be evaluated with the understanding that certain data, particularly dates and places, may be inaccurate. No official fee is charged for delivering documents to the applicants. When these documents are requested from abroad, an indefinite waiting period should be expected before a reply is received.

Birth or baptismal certificates emanating from ecclesiastic authorities of the church to which non-Moslem applicants belong are frequently of doubtful value. Moslem ecclesiastic authorities in Iran issue no documents to visa applicants"

Birth Certificates in Iran are actually Shenasnameh's they are identity certificates and much more important in Iranian society than a birth certificate is in other societies.

Again the problem is how to get a certified copy of the Shenasnameh to give to the NVC, since sending the original is not recommended or possible. Taking the original to the interview won't be a problem.
