The k1 visa is a one-time entry visa. Once used, it can't be used again. You won't be able to travel until you receive your Advanced Parole document.

The Answer is YES, you can travel to Canada with no problems. Canada will gladly let you in! BUT your big problem is getting back into the USA, which without Advance parole (AP) or the greencard, you are not getting back in! Then you get to start the CR-1 journey from Canada! lol And yes it did happen to 1 VJ member a few yrs back. If you need to go back and its an emergency---craving tim hortons is not an emergency, their is An Emergency Advance parole one can apply for! Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

As everybody else said; no international travel for you until you have received your Advance parole or your Green Card.

That being said, if you don't care about starting over, you can go before receiving proper authorization. Canada is your country and will always accept you in. But if you step foot outside the U.S. before they have granted you authorization, your visa will be deemed abandoned. And you will need to have your fiance/husband petition for you again.

My suggestion: marry asap and file for Advance Parole with your AOS. It is usually received within 3 months. Unless you have accumulated overstay, AP allows you to travel internationally before your GC is granted.

US citizen since April 2016

ROC completed April 2014

AOS from K1 completed February 2012
