So we pass our INTERVIEW last Dec.26,2012 at the US Embassy here in Manila. We all got our VISA already... now we are planning to go to the US this coming april 5, 2013. When my mom applied to petition me and my siblings, my mom is a LPR... but before we even have our Interview at US embassy she got her US CITIZENSHIP..

My questions are:

1. When me and my siblings get there in Chicago, illinois USA...HOW LONG TIL L WE GET OUR PERMANENT CARD?

2. how long till we become a US CITIZEN?

The reason im asking this is because im planning to go back to the philippines to continue my studies. thanks in advance :)

depends on what type of visa you enter on before you get the green card. You have to take a TEST to become a citizen, it doesn't just happen. Once again, depending on the visa, you can either take the test for citizenship in either 3 or 5 years.

1.) It's possible that you will receive your green cards within 30 days after arriving in Chicago. But then again, delivery times vary from state to state. I think the longest time that you can receive your GC is within 6 MONTHS.

2.) You will qualify for US citizenship AFTER 5 YEARS of being a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR)/Green Card Holder.

with marriage based visas to US citizens, the beneficiary qualifies for citizenship after 3 years. That is why I asked the type of visa they are entering on. From the time you get your greencard up to and including the time you qualify for citizenship you must maintain physical residence in the US.

I know.

OP's profile shows he was petitioned under F2A.
