All paperwork in English?

Hi there. I am positive that this situation is no just unique to me, so I am looking for some advice! Apparently all the paperwork for K-1 must be in English. My fiancé does not speak any English at all and is close to illiterate because of lack of opportunity. We are not in the same country now so that I can help him. Does anyone know if it is really bad if I fill out all the paperwork and sign for him? What have other people done in a similar situation? I don't have a lot of money so that it is feasible for me to make many trips just to sit down and show him what to write, and no one in his area speaks English so that they can help him. Any recommendations?

AGREE!! Don't forge his signature!...you can fill the forms on your computer, send them via email, He needs somebody to print them and he can sign them and send them along with the rest of the paperwork you need from him using DHL. It's expensive for him, but I can assure you, you'll recieved them. I did the same with my fiance. I helped him with the english, he printed the forms filled by me, signed them and sent it with his Divorce Certificate, photo (passport style) and the evidence he had from our relationship.

Don't forge his signature!

As stated above, fill our all the forms yourself and have him get you the information that you don't know, then send him the forms to have him sign them. If you sign them that is forgery and will not be accepted.

Do you have a teacher or friend that you met in Costa Rica that is still there that you can ask for help? Maybe you can send them the filled out forms by email and they can print them out and assist him in signing them. Another way, would be to hire a lawyer in Costa Rica that can help with this process... But whatever you do, don't forge or create a signature for him. At the interview, he will have to sign before an officer and if he can't or it looks different, it is an automatic denial of the visa. Good luck and keep us updated on your journey!

You can not sign for him. You CAN do all the paperwork for him.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

My fiancee doesn't speak English either, but I just filled the forms myself--just asking her for some of the information like for the G-325a form. When I went to Colombia in May, we finished filling out the forms together, and she signed them. You can do all the work yourself, just ask your fiance for his information and then have him sign it. Remember he will have to sign the G-325a form and the letter of intent.
