Regarding the car import: At the POE you will let them know you are importing your vehicle. You will show them a copy of the letter of compliance and the ownership. They will ask for the value. You can get this information from the Kelley Blue Book site. You will want to keep the amount low in case you are required to pay State or County taxes on the registration. There is additional if your vehicle's odometer reading cannot be read in miles.

lol! Pretty sure part of the job description for working at the social security office is to be wrong all of the time. That place is a nightmare!

I'm really confused about the whole car importing thing too. I contacted the manufacturer (Hyundai) and they sent me a letter of Canadian standards compliance. I'm unable to get one that would say it's US compliant. What am I do poised to do? I know it gets imported at the POE, but I need to make sure it has the proper documents with it.
