Hello everyone. I check this forum about ten times a day, waiting for my husband to get approved for his new green card or at least closer to it. I finally dug deep enough into other forums to discover that CSC is delayed two months for basically ALL types of applications in order to deal with the 300,000 applications they received for "deferred action" cases (Dream Act ). Everyone, K-1's are frustrated!! You can read the thread I found as "CSC k1's delayed at least 2 months" So if you are waiting for approval like we are- try to forget about it for at least two more weeks. I'm not going to check this site for a long time now.

The only thing that I don't understand is why they are approving more July filers than June filers right now. Did they just stuff us on a back shelf and skip to the next month????? weird

I support Obama 100%. The principle of immigration reform makes sense to United States; however, they need to create more processing centers to deal with applications too. Otherwise, it will cause more backlogs. My 2 cents.

I support his efforts too. The issue is that USCIS should have predicted this to happen and reopened the older service stations and had the staff on hand to be able to handle the massive load.

I was stuck at VSC for a time and I am sure that the flood of applications from deferred action contributed to it.

I have no problem in doing so; those people who qualify for deferred action need it more than I need my green card in my hands right this second.

I agree with Obama's plans for immigration, but I don't think we should be punished with longer waiting times either. We are paying quite a bit of money for a service and to see the wait time increase so dramatically because the government can't be bothered to hire more people is very frustrating.

Naturalization

It's my understanding one of the bill is to improve legal immigration system by making it faster for USC to bring their family to be with them without having to wait years. But that leads to the question what about the ones that are already here if one processing center is processing both cases? I'm sure everyone wants to be "done" with USCIS. We don't know much about the details what's going to happen to "improve" that process.

I show my compassion towards those illegal/undocumented immigrants. It's very stressful when you cannot do anything much, cannot fly to go to places, and use passport to get into the club instead of a driver license, etc. I know ultimately its a choice they picked, but "pathway" to citizenship doesn't mean every illegal immigrants will be qualified. Sorry to talk about this, kind of taking the original thread away ;-)

The point is, they need to process the files in the right order and faster. As you can see now with I-751, here and there such a mess. People are second guessing what's going on with their files.

The delays are simply due to poor planning from USCIS. I believe they raised the fees recently so to hire more resources but doesn't seem like the plan was to stay atop or on target to meet the defined deadlines. Eventually things will go back to normal when they realize that the backlog is building up but till then, as they say in Queen's land, Keep Calm and Carry On.

The bureaucratic culture inherently supports poor planning and resulting delays, and this isn't just USCIS, its pervasive in almost all governmental organizations across the world.

I noticed a slowdown as soon as DACA applications were being accepted on Aug 15. Just see what happens to completions on I-751s from Aug onward http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=15&office=2&charttype=1

There is a real drop in processing volume. From USCIS perspective ROCs are low priority since the applicants already have LPR status. That's fair enough. But they could make our lives easier by issuing a temporary GC that shows the one year extended expiry date. The NOA1 letter is not universally recognized and I had problems with airlines, employer, etc.

Also, statements in the press by USCIS prior to August do not at all tally with what they did. The statements said that with the fees paid by DACA applicants they will go out and hire new officers to process those applicants, so approvals will not begin until this new hiring is complete. But they began processing the applications as soon as they were submitted. The reality is that there was an election coming up and there was probably subtle pressure on USCIS from the White House to process these applications so that voters were convinced that this was a serious program that actually yielded legal status. There can be no explicit interference in USCIS activities for political reasons but there has and always will be implicit political pressures on the agency.

At the end of the day, we are in a better position than all of those young people who had no status at all.

Good luck to all of you still waiting on an ROC.

Did anyone notice Onama's comments in his speech yesterday where he said that all of the immigrants who qualify for the Dream Act will have to wait their turn in the immigration process so as not to penalize those of us that already have cases pending. So did Obama lie?

*Obama...sorry, typing from an iPhone.

That is not what he said. The Dream act lite he put into place by executive order has already approved over 100,000 people with many hundreds of thousands more pending. Do you think that all of the K-1 CR-1 cases filed prior to that have been approved already? Heck no.

He was talking about the future path to citizenship if it passes. So their green card applications will be "at the back of the line" the current dream act replacement ones are going right through and slowing the process down.

Well, I must be in a minority here because I'm dead set against amnesty for illegals. As all of us have, I've made a large expenditure in time and money to do things the right way and I don't have much sympathy for those who break the laws of the land and violate the sovereignty of my country. That they would receive a nod and wink pass on what they did is unacceptable. It's all well and good to talk about "the back of the line," but what about the people who will apply in the meantime? They have to take a spot in line behind illegals, despite doing things the correct way? It doesn't sit well with me.

Not sure why you quoted me. I was just clarifying the situation. Never hinted I agree with any of it. I'm waiting on NOA-2 right now for my fiancee and watching the CSC slow down more and more as the dream act lite applications flood in.
