K-1 petition-a couple simple quesitons (hopefully)

Hello out there,

I am in the middle of putting together my 129F petition for my fiance's K1 visa. I have tried to do as much research as possible...we are doing this without a lawyer. My first question: Do we need a lawyer? I think our case should be fairly easy--fiance is from England and neither of us have police records! It would be nice to have peace of mind...just can't afford it!

Also, I am working on my G325A form(s). When it asks for places of employment for the past 5 years and the full address, there just isn't enough room! I can't fit the full name of employer and address on the one line so I have taken up two lines. Is that ok? There is one employer that won't fit so I will have to type it up on separate paper. I suppose I will need to make 4 copies...what is the best way to attach the extra sheet of employment to each of the 4 forms? Paperclip? Then I get paranoid that it will come loose!

I'm a little pedantic and don't want to do anything wrong--I want whoever reviews this petition to be impressed and not annoyed! Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time!

Hi adins!

There's no need for the extra expense of a lawyer for an uncomplicated case such as yours. You have a great reference and all the help you will need in this site.

For the G325A forms, if you are running out of space, just print out a supplemental sheet with the additional information you need to include.

Label it something like:

"G325A Biographic Information Employment History Supplement"

Just create 4 copies and attach them to your G325A. Also make sure to sign and date each page. This is what I did with my forms and I didn't have any problem.

You definitely do not need a lawyer if your case is a straight-forward one, with no criminal, health, or overstay problems. You can do all the paperwork yourself, and having a lawyer in no way speeds up the process.

For the G-325A, you can write "see attachment" on the form, and then put all the information on a separate sheet following the G-325A. You will need to attach the page to all 4 copies, however. And remember, you will need a 4-page G-325A for both you and your fiance, each signed with original signatures.

Just like everyone else said, just make a simple attachment sheet, here is how I titled mine: G-325A Continuation Sheet regarding Applicant’s employment last five years. Be sure to put see attachment in a blank on your actual G-325A. I also signed and dated all of my continuation sheets.

And no, I wouldn't recommend a lawyer. They are helpful in complicated cases but for a straightforward one, like most people here on VJ, things are easy (and sometimes easier) to just do yourself! We are also a USA/UK couple and so far we haven't had any problems, just waiting for an interview!

Same as what the others say and also, use a paperclip and not staples to attach copies.

I'm filling out the I-129f as well, and I have a question about #18, describing how we met. How much detail should I include? We met on an internet talkboard during the summer of 2004, he came to visit me in the states in November of the same year, and we've managed a visit every two months or so ever since. I was concerned that meeting on the internet might raise a flag, but it can't be that uncommon any more.

Meeting on the internet is very common these days.

I met my husband online and had no problems.

As for question 18, I only wrote a few sentences about how we met.

You don't need to fit the full name of employer or their address - it is quite acceptable to abbreviate and condense as may be necessary to fit one employer on one line.

Hey, how much information should you include in the supplement for quesition 18 on the I-129f petition?? It probably shouldn't be too detailed...just simple, yeah??
