Hello to everyone.

My name is Jenn and I am engaged to the most wonderful, sweet, caring man I ever thought possible. We met online and then after months of skype and other online interaction we met in person. It confirmed what we already knew. He asked me to marry him and now we are saving up so we can get married. My Divorce finalized after 2 years so I am officially free to marry this most wonderful Man. The pitfall right now is that I live in Canada and he lives in the US. We are hoping to have him up here asap. He was here for a visit in July and recently spent 10 days over Christmas and it was heaven! We are also concerned as my fiance has an arrest from 10 years ago on his record that was a diferred Adjudication in Texas and he was told that after he competed the requirements there would be no conviction placed on his record. The record is still showing so it was never removed nor will it be but on his last trip he was brought into immigration and they said that as long as he behaves himself he should be deemed rehabilitated which means he can also apply for rehabilitation and it would likely be approved. He will need to before he can immigrate otherwise we are waiting for another two years. He is a ticketed Electrician and here in Alberta the jobs are plentiful, if he could only find one with the LMO. If he could only get a job, he could come up on a work permit we would be laughing while we get the PR going. At least he wouldn't be sitting doing nothing while we wait. We also recently found out that his credentials are recognized here in Alberta and he can get a certificate fairly easily which he will also need to apply under the Skilled trades route.

But... It could take a year to get the Rehabilitation status. So in the mean time, We are looking at me coming down to Texas until everything is cleared and he can apply for Permanent residency in Canada.

I am so happy to find this site, I know almost all the ins and outs of Canadian immigration, but now looking at the US immigration I am starting from scratch. I look forward to all the help I can get and what I can learn from everyone.

Cheers
