Marrying a Russian on Student Visa.

Hello Visa Journey!

My name is Jim, and I met my girlfriend 6 months ago at Starbucks. She is in the US on a student visa. She is from Penza, Russia. As we have been dating, the topic of marriage has come up a few times. And I don't event know where to begin. In doing some research, I found that if she was not already in the United States, we would have to apply for a fiance visa, and then she could come over, and we could get married, and then apply for citizenship for her.

Because she is already here on a student visa, what do we have to do different?

She has some family in Russia - brothers and sisters, no parents. And she has friends in the USA and in Russia who could help. I am just unclear on the process, and she is too. Everyone we have talked to has been in a different situation.

Is there anyone out there that was in the same situation, or knows what steps we need to take if we do decide to tie the knot?

You have to apply for AOS if you guys get married in United States:

bear in mind though that during the AOS, there is the burden of proof that the plan to marry was not for immigration purpose
