question about file number for G-325A

I am working on the G-325A forms for myself and my fiancé. On the top it's asking me to fill out "File Number" and starts with the letter A. I'm confused about what this is––it seems to me that we don't have file numbers yet as we haven't submitted the petition. Can anyone shed some light on this?

It's an allien number. it's assigned to you when your petition is approved. so you don't have any, just write N/A.

However, in my case, my Fiance received an "A" number (9 digit alien registration number) on her K1 visa.

Should we list this number on the G-325A, even though she is just now appying for adjustment of status.

Write None.....as she doesn't have one yet. This form is a multilple use form and this part does not apply to you, yet.

The OP needs to put None there because they are just starting the process.

Your case is not the same as someone filing the I-129F petition. If you are filing for AOS, you have a spouse, not a fiancee. She has an A number because she was already granted a K-1 visa that she used to enter the US. All the AOS forms that ask for her A# should of course be filled out with her assigned A#. I would use the A# listed for her on your NOA2 approval notice from the I-129F petition. It tends to be the most accurate and not everyone has the A# printed on their K-1 visa.

Hmm.. for my case (I am d petitioner),, I was a naturalized citizen and so therefore I have an A number from the first time I came here as a green card holder.. and it showed also on my naturalization certificate.. so I wrote it down.. I hope I was right LoL

I see.. Maybe that's why you have NONE on the A number coz you were born in the US.. whew.. I doubted myself there for a second.. LoL.. Thanks! (I still hope I was right! haha!)

If you have ever had dealings with the USCIS and have received an Alien Registration Number (A#) in the past then you of course put in the A# from your previously dealings. If you are just starting the process and do not have an A# yet because you are the foreign born intending immigrant then I would put "NONE". If I was a a USC by birth I would put "N/A".

Reasonings:

You have an A#, so you include it so USCIS can find your previous file easily.

You have never had an A#, but soon will as you are asking the USCIS to start a file on you.

You will never have an A# as you are a USC by birth and therefore this question is not applicable to you ever.
