My Dad used to smoke a lot but quit a couple of years prior to getting their medical exam at St. Lukes, so they deciced to get checked with a local hospital to get a hint of what could expect. They did his x-ray, smear, sputum, and skin test. He also did the treatment as advised by his doctor due to spots seen in his x-ray, even though his smear and sputum results were both negative. This was all done 5 months before their St, Lukes visit.

Of course, St. Lukes had him do everything all over again, except for the treatment due to negative results, but they still asked for a certificate from his local Doctor verifying that he has completed his 6-month treatment with them.

My wife, Chinook, was a nurse in 'pinas and is a nurse here in the U.S. After she completed her medical at St. Lukes, she mentioned to me how modern the x-ray equipment is at St. Lukes compared to the tertiary public hospital and the clinics where she worked in 'pinas.

The doctors at St. Lukes will look at the x-rays you bring in from the outside, but their own x-ray is the one they will go by.

If you want to find out if you have TB before you go to St. Lukes, you can do what St. Lukes does. You can have a chest x-ray done and have a pulmonologist look at it. You can have smear tests done. You can have your sputum cultured.

Also, you can get a blood test done. This is something St. Lukes does not do.

St Lukes does not perform skin tests on adults. Skin tests give a false positive on many Pinoys because they were given the BCG vaccine when they were young.

I did go for a medical exam at SLEC last thursday. I'm a nurse by profession and was a little bit freaked out for the result of my chest xray. I affirm that their equipment is more advance than in any other hospitals. After the radiologist took my xray, I looked inside her room and glanced at the monitor showing my chest radiograph. It was clear and more detailed compared to what I've seen in the hospital I've worked with. We have an annual check up including chest x ray. I also brought my previous chest xray for comparison but SLEC did not look into it. BTW, my chest radiograph is CLEARED and I'm waiting for my interview this wednesday. Hoping for "APPROVED" this wednesday.

Congratz on passing your medical!  And thanks for your update.

SLEC must have upgraded their equipment.  No wonder so many people have been referred for the sputum culture the past few years.

Good luck with your interview.  And your NCLEX too!  Your going to faint when you get your first paycheck...lol...

 Congratulations. Now onto the interview. Just be relaxed. I wouldn't be surprised if you are not in front of the CO more than 5 min. Nothing to worry about.

Thank you... and also one thing... it was first time that a radiologist handed me a "SHIELD" during chest xray for my lower body part (specifically instructed me to shield my buttocks area) at SLEC... Other Xrays would not require it (or SLEC must be a little cautious/ for safety purposes)

Studying pharma... noted!!!
