Nothing new. The other trick is to go to gun shows and buy "parts guns" very cheap, then take them to gun buy backs and collect the $50 or $100 for the junk in a shoe box. You can easily quadruple your money doing this. Gun buy backs are conceived by morons. Best use for them is for clever people to make money or get super deals on collector pieces.

Another problem with them isd that they are always "no questions asked". In other words, if I kill someone the night before, what better way to get rid of the evidence than to SELL IT to. someone that asks no questions. Idiots!

I have taken advantage of them and added a few pieces to my collection very cheap, then sold them junk parts guns, netting myself some good collector items FREE.

I'm waiting for one to be held near me. I've got the requisite junk parts that those programs want ... And want the free $$$$ to fund my next project.

functional or was it a decoration piece?

Apparently functional but without the projectile to really be useful in home invasion defense. Also it was a modern weapon not WW2 surplus. They are tracking to see if it came from Joint Base Louis-McCord.

Yes and the best solution would be qurantine the whole country's population and put military guards around them, how about that?

There will be no more adam lanza anymore.

If you wanna pay attention to detail go to the root cause of the problem.

I would hope they're free since you're living off the government now, right?

I live in the area and it is a true story. Private sales with no background checks did take place at the Seattle buy back. Lovely!

The OP is a bit exaggerated though. Many guns were taken off the streets including a hand held missile launcher.

you stated "apparently functional"

here is one of many links to discredit your "apparently functional" ...

from the linked article:

"Seattle police worked with Army officials Monday to track down the history of a nonfunctional missile launcher ...."

They should be more like California. If you show up at a buy back here, and try to buy guns, the police will still check all the serial numbers, and you run the risk that one of the weapons you just bought, will end up putting you in jail, for a variety of reasons. Good example right there why all transfers of firearms should be recorded and background checked, for both the buyer, and the seller.
