Someone posted today that K1 visas gets denied often in Ghana due to high fraud and I am debating getting married during my next visit and changing to CR1. I truly don't want to wait longer than my estimated 12 month wait but I don't think I can take a denial. I have seen him 3 times since engagement and probably twice more by interview but I don't know if that will suffice.

click yer portal, study the timelines....

the data is there, when people actually update their timelines.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Honestly Tosh Love,

I skipped the K-1 process because I couldn't faced the denial myself nor my husband could. I will tell you to pray about the path because no one's path is the same. I know my husband and I choose to get married and go through CR-1 process. We knew we wanted to get married and it didn't matter where we didn't but to save money we did it in Ghana :). (Plus I wanted to meet his family and enjoy the country too). Just pray and go with your heart whatever your choice maybe, go with it. There is great successes in the K-1 process too.

Hi,

I'm not sure if one is better than the other to be honest. They can delay marriage for EXTREMEly long periods of time. Fraud is fraud NO matter if it's K1 or CR-1. It seems to me they actively look for it NO matter what process you select. I decided on K1 because I want my family to meet Edward prior to marriage. I have been to Ghana 6 times since we met back in April 2011 and my 10yr old joined my during one visit as well. However, my family has never met my fiance' and that's important to me.

It seems as if ALL K1 visas have been approved at the Accra Embassy thus far. If you check the departement of state website, there's a DETAILED list of EVERY document you must present to the officer at the time of the interview. Also, I was EXTREMEly proactive and I emailed the embassy in Ghana asking for specifics so that we can prepare. I was directed to the department of state website for documents required for the K1 interview. Not sure how ANYbody is denied when the information given BY the Accra Embassy is to follow the directives issued by the U.S. government on their website. I can answer your survey question in 48hrs. Our interview date is Thu 1/31.

Good luck....whatever you decide.

Hey Tosh Love,

You have nothing to worry about. If you are a believer, just keep praying and all will go well. Honestly, I read lots of the reviews and I rarely saw any denials. Just overload them with plenty of evidence and PRAY PRAY PRAY and all will go well with you on your approval. What you heard about Ghana not getting many approvals is false because so far haven't read about anyone that has been denied. So keep the faith God is in control. :innocent:
