Hello to all...

I am a new member to this forum...I am a US Permanent Resident (Indian citizen) and I will be filing the I-130 (along with G325A and G 1145) for my wife within the next 1 week to USCIS to apply for her green card. She is presently in India. I am presently a Graduate Student and hence I don't have much of an income as such.

My understanding is, once I file the I-130, I will be getting a priority date in First week of February 2013 (NOA1 date). Then, as per the US State Govt. website, after about 2 years and 3 months, in 2015, once a visa number becomes available, my documents will be forwarded to National Visa Center (NVC) who would then ask for the I-864 Form from me. So, as per my understanding, I will have time till 2015 to find a job and subsequently to get the back-up documents for I-864 form to submit to NVC, right?

Please inform whether what I understood is right or will the NVC ask for the I-864 form even before the Priority date becomes current and a visa number is allotted to my wife's case?

Looking forward to your opinions on this!

Thanks

NVC will ask for the i-864 before your wife's priority date becomes current.

If you're not earning enough by that time, you can always get a joint sponsor for her. http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=720b0a5659083210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=720b0a5659083210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD
