What the best way to mail to the Philippines ? Fedex costs a lot and I want to send an entire I129F copy to my girlfriend . I have shipped with UMAC , but that was a box and was over 2 months . My girlfriend sent me forms with LBC and it was delivered by DHL to me witin 3 days ! Would DHL be a good way back to the Philippines ? I heard USPS takes quite a while also and is not so reliable . Any help would be great thanks..

. . .If you need it to REALLY GET THERE ( and sooner rather than later ) - FEDEX. . .If you want it to get there in 3 - 4 weeks try the USPS ( Registered / insured / etc ). . .I send by mail ( certified / registered / insured ) many times to Gonzaga, Cagayan Valley & it has always gotten there in 3 - 4 weeks. . .But, that is just me & maybe I might be lucky????. . .My personal opinion is IF it is important & time is an issue you pay the piper & send by FEDEX. . .

If its just a copy . . . then consider purchasing a scanner . . . when I send via DHL and/or Fedex it has cost me upwards of $50.00 each time. Unless you need a signature, just scan and send a PDF file . . . Just a thought!

How about you send documents that needs original signatures ( like affidavit of support, employment letter etc) by FedEx & just send by email scanned copies of ( passport stamps, etc)?

What about using USPS Express Mail ( Flat Rate ), as per their site, it takes 3-5 business days.

My understanding is that USPS partners with the Philippine Mail Service . . . I would not want to rely on that organization for my valuables . . .

That is true.

In States, I have used DHL for International Shipment, and I generate the shipping label thru ShipNex, and they offer the great discount pricing with no monthly commitment.

Ok, seriously you do not need to send a copy of the I-129F petition to your girlfriend fiancee. Seriously. Its not needed at all. The embassy will have your original petition file from NVC, the embassy NEVER asks for a copy of the I-129F file.

As for sending copies of stuff, scan it and email it. For sending originals for sure don't use the mail, use FED/EX UPS DHL but not postal.

I lived in the Philippines and trust me NEVER send USPS. It is money well spent to use a carrier like FED EX, UPS or DHL. I just sent about 4 pound of documents FED EX to Bohol and it cost me $130 and she had it in 5 days. I asked the lady at FED EX as I wanted to send my fiancee a cell phone for her travel here so we can connect during her layover. She said it cost about the same as sending 4 pounds due to the geographical area. So maybe scanning is not going to save you much. I suggest checking on line and getting an estimate..

Just advice on the mailing. It takes forever I am talking months not weeks and you are never certain she will receive the package.. Go courier.

Good luck

Of the 10 things I sent by US postal Mail only 1 single post card got to my Fiancée - I have only used FedEx and it gets there every time - yes it is expensive but you know where it is.

Sending by US Postal (even registered certificate etc) it disappears in Manila to never be seen again.

I would have to echo 99% of the other posters' recommendations: Don't use USPS who partners with the Philippine Mail Service. It's spending money on NOTHING.

I also don't think it's important to send a copy of the I-129F to your fiancee. Scan the packet and e-mail it to her, and she can print it if she wants certain things for her interview.

From recent, first-hand experience, the only items we used snail mail (FedEx and USPS) for was 1. My fiancee letter of intent with my original signature to him for the I-129F and 2. His updated fiance letter of intent with original signature to me for the visa interview after our NOA2. Use the courier's most basic shipping method for this unless you are in some kind of special rush. Most have a 2-3 week waiting period which doesn't make any difference from a 2-3 day one since most procedures after the NOA2 (i.e. interview schedule) have xx-weeks lead time anyway. It will save you a lot of money.

Good luck!

I am (usually) the beneficiary.

I've tried that, it will still take a couple of weeks, then they'll likely hit her up for a customary bride since they know its immigration documents.

But seriously, since originals are not required, scan and email it. She can print it out there. OR wait until you have an entire batch of originals that she needs and fedex them all together.

What about using USPS Express Mail ( Flat Rate ), as per their site, it takes 3-5 business days.
