Hi everyone,

Thanks for helping me earlier. I have got TWO police certificates from the passport office and also a stamp in passport saying Police Clearance Certificate is given for USA.

The point is that I should get TWO certificates like this :-

1) A Police Clearance Certificate from local passport office ( I got it )

2) A Police Clearance Certificate serving from local district police station ( I didnt get this one )

But the certificates I got are like this

1) A Police Clearance Certificate from Local Passport office

2) A Police Clearance Certificate from Local Passport office

YES! I got TWO certificates and both of them are SAME in every way and both are original ( No Photocopies or written like "A copy of..." or something ). Both have the same heading "Ministry of External affairs " and have the same message. I have no clue why got TWO same certificates.

Is this ok ?

Shall I goto district CID office & ask for an extra certificate?

My passport was issued 2 years ago.

I am applying from Mumbai Consulate, India. Thanks

If your passport is issued more than 6 months ago, then you need PCC from Passport office AND PCC from district police headquaters. So, you do need to get another one from Police.

As stated above, you need one more from district police office as well.

My wife is also applying from Mumbai. Police certi from disctrict police office can take some time..may be one month..so apply at earliest...

If you dont mind, what category have you applied for and what is your timeline....have you got packet 3-4, interview date from Mumbai ?

Thanks

Hi people,

Thank you very much @AUSC and Raj0000. I will get one from district police station soon I hope.

@ Raj, I have applied for K-1 fiance visa got my packet 4 . :)

If you have already got pack-4, than I am sure you must have got interview date too....

I suggest to apply for dictric poilce certi asap since it may take a month...and if your interview is sooner than that than you gotta make sure you get one before interview....try to convince police people...Good luck...

I guess packet 3-4 etc are coming from mumbai consulate by regular govt mail..right ?? how was your experience with that ? Did you get both the packets on time ?? (We are waiting for my wife's pack-3 to come !!!)

Thansk....

Hi Raj,

Thank you for your reply. Yes I have applied for the Police certificate from district and got it. So there are two identical certificates from passport office and one certificate from DCP from local district is what you need.

Yes I have got Packet 4 too. Actually I changed my address( in same district) so I dont need more police certificates. And yes they mistaken and sent me Packet 3 at my old address which returned undelivered as the local post master told me. But my fiancee helped me and asked me to Download from Mumbai Consulate website, then fill and send it. It worked. So I want to suggest you that if you dont get it delivered soon then you too ask your wife to Download it. Its delivered by "Registered Post" ( Govt. one ) I wonder why dont they use Bluedart But its good atleast that they use registered post. So I never got packet 3 and we emailed the new address to consulate and it took them a while to note it. But Fortunately I got packet 4 on time :) Thanks to consulate :) as its important because my original appointment letter is in it. Now lets see what happens next. Also one important thing ! Recently consulate has made a change according to which you must submit ALL your documents in between 10-15 days before your interview at Local VFS Office and then you just have to carry a passport, an appointment letter and a medical report ( not sure if you have to submit it to VFS)

Good Luck :)

Thnaks for your response. We have applied for DCF for my wife so we dont have case no. etc until we get pack-3 from them with case no.. But it is less than a month since we applied so we still wait for one more week for pack-3 to come after that I will send email to them and than probably downaload from web.

I am aware of new rule for submitting docs to VFS 10 days advance but thaanks for your info. Actually, I have sent email to VFS two days ago and ask them if we need to submit medical reports & 380$ IV visa fees 10 days advance as well or not ?? but they haven't yet responded back yet...I guess after sometime we will call them too.

I also wonder why dont they use pvt courier svc to deliver packets etc..well, anyway, I guess they trust govt of india postal system more than the people in india :-)

Good luck to you too !!!

_Raj
