Came here on a K1, at the airport they said i already have a SSN?

I came to the US on the 17th of January. When i flew into Charlotte, NC, the woman at customs opened a packet up (the sealed one i was told not to open myself) and said that i already have a SSN? Does this seem right? I was under the impression that i had to apply for one once i got married. (Feb. 1st)

Have you ever applied for one in the past while on a student or work visa?

If not, then my guess is they were mistaken.

You should apply for one before you get married, less likelihood of hassle at the SSA that way. Some offices seem to believe that you can't get a SSN after you get married.
