Any recent experiences with infopass I-551 stamp?

Hi all,

USCIS approved my AOS last week, much faster than I ever expected (2 months). It was an employment-based case, so I did not require an interview. I have a trip outside the US coming up in 10 days. I made an infopass appointment to get an I-551 stamp. Has anyone had recent experiences with this process? It seems it's almost random: some get the stamp placed without a problem, others get refused.

My wife got a conditional green card through me. When it expired, her drivers license expired and neither MS nor LA DMV's would accept the I-797 as proof of extension to renew her license. USCIS Mississippi refused to give us a I-551 stamp, telling us that the I-797 is all that they would give.

After contacting our congressman, who filed a complaint in Washington DC and the regional USCIS center, the local USCIS was ordered to give us a I-551 stamp.

She got her drivers license 1 hour later.

If two US states consider the I-797 to be garbage, then it is garbage - and it should simply be replaced by the stamp.

I am trying to get an appt through infopass. I need to go back to CAnada on the 16th of this month. My green card was stolen last month. I sent the I-90 paperwork and money on March 25th. I had my biometrics done on April 16th. Now I am being told it could be months as they are working on August 2013. My license will expire in June also. The soonest appt showing is the 21 of this month. I dont' get why it takes so long to get a replacement. Its all the same. I just got the 10 yr card last November.

I would imagine with a lost or stolen card there is a lot of extra checks and processing that needs to be done, especially on a 10 year card.
