VISA USA is fine. the NBI officer knows what he is doing. that is why he put that as the purpose.. there were applicants before who used VISA USA or TRAVEL USA and they are now in the US

The embassy states in their instructions letter that the NBI should be for TRAVEL ABROAD, here is a link to the letter. You will not have any problem with the putting VISA USA either. You won't have issues with it stating VSA USA either.

Embassy Letter

To be honest, I was really worried about this. I applied for NBI clearance last April 17 then I got "HIT". They wanted me to go back on May 22. It took more than a month before I got my NBI clearance. I just got it 2 days ago and ready to send it to the NVC with the DS-230 form. But my problem is if it's okay that I put VISA USA on it and not "FOR TRAVEL ABROAD". I doubted if NVC will accept it or not. If they wont accept it, I need to get another NBI clearance again with the purpose "TRAVEL ABROAD". It will delay my visa application sad.png .... Thanks for your reply that I wont get any problem by putting VISA USA on it instead FOR TRAVEL ABROAD. :)

How about during the interview? Do I need to get another NBI clearance? I already got two copies of it but it is not For travel abroad. It is VISA USA.

For the embassy you will need everything stated in their instructions letter.

Hi everyone!

Joan's NBI is going to be released today. She is planning to go to Manila to pick it up (from Bulacan). I am arriving in Manila tomorrow night so she has to return to Bulacan only to go back to Manila tomorrow. Does she have to pick up her NBI the day it is released or can she go on Wednesday to save a travel day?

I don't know for fact but I would have to believe they would hold it until Joan arrives to claim it. Seems logical anyway... not sure if logic applies though..rofl.gif

Just to give the other applicants an idea.

For those NBI clearance that will be claimed after a week or month, the NBI personnel will only print the clearance once the applicant arrived in their office and claims the clearance. The don't print it in advance. So it is ok if the applicant don't come on the exact date stamped on the receipt. :) They would still print it. :)

The NBI needs only to be for "Travel Abroad", it doesn't matter which NBI office you use. The embassy tends to want them less than 6 months old. All documents presented to the embassy will be kept.
