In 2012, the NRA lost almost all their causes that they poured any significant resources in. They poured millions of dollars into races and couldn't move the needle. Their return on investment was below 1% - that means that more than 99% of the money they spent to influence elections was simply pizzed out the window. They're not even remotely as powerful as you want to make believe here.

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

I'm talking about facts. What are you talking about? Fairy tales about sleeping giants?

Actually referring to a quote made by Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in reference to bringing the U.S. into the war.

Not sure either, but yay.

I know where the quote is coming from and I think it was fitting then. The NRA ain't no giant, though, regardless of how much the gun nuts wish the contrary. By and large, the NRA was rather ineffective with their political action arm in the 2012 cycle. They poured almost all their money into races that went the other way.

Gun rights supports > NRA.

I would argue that the administration played their cards well regarding firearms and the election. They could have easily started this after Aurora but were silent. By remaining silent, gun rights became a non issue, after all the only legal movement Obama did in the previous 4 years was allow firearms on Amtrak.

The NRA only has power when gun rights are threatened.

I'm a gun nut and I hate the NRA. I am a member of GOA, however, and while I was a regular NRA member until this last September, one of my friends gifted me a Life of Duty membership without telling me....oh well, it's free, so I said thank you and took it.

I'm not a fan of their rhetoric. Sure, all organizations on both sides spew it unapologetically, but the NRA is something special. It's like watching a drunk football player running the wrong way. You know they're gonna make it to the endzone, you know they think it's the right idea, but you also know that once it's done, they're gonna be replaying it and laughing at it for YEARS.

My first phone call as a married man was at the airport in Chicago coming back home, and it was the NRA begging for more money. Like sh** people, give me some time to unwind first. That and they like to say they're helping out gun owners, but really behind the scenes, they're simply helping to write the bills, not fighting them. I understand the whole if you can't beat 'em, join 'em mentality, but they join before even trying.

You obviously know nothing about history ....

I know that the races that the NRA spend 99.17% of their campaign money on went the way the NRA did NOT want them to go. I know that the NRA was painfully ineffective in 2012. Those are the facts. You've got something to refute them? And don't come with ####### from 2008 or 2004 or whatever. We're talking about 2012. Try to focus on that in your response.

Then we can expect congress to pass the laws you want and you will be happy. Sleep well.
